Happy New Year
everyone. It's been three months with the Overland
and as most have experienced, it's the best Grand Cherokee of all that I've owned. I'm just over 6,000 km and this is my 4th GC.
I've made two trips
so far, Montreal and Ottawa, both went smooth and comfortably. The trip to Ottawa was cut short when I got a call at 7am letting me know that my daughter was in labor and heading to the hospital
. I was 400 km away but did the drive straight to the hospital and got there in plenty time. She gave birth to a healthy girl.
As for accessories, I went with Huskyliners
over the Weathertechs for 1st and 2nd row. The Husky's may not have the quality look of the Weathertechs that I have in my Audi, but they have far better grip and coverage. I'm very pleased with them. Pity they're not available for Audi. I'm going Mopar for the cago area.
Then I got my snow tires
on Dec 21st from Tire Rack and installed them myself on the 24th. Despite being an 18" package, the Blizzaks are not as smooth or quiet as the stock 20" Fortera. We've not had any new snow or extreme cold since but I'm sure they will prove their worth.
: a few days before Xmas my oil service
notice came up on the EVIC. No problem I said, I had the Xmas week off to take care of that. But having changed my wheels I noticed a slow leak
from the engine bay area dripping on the driveway. Not sure how long it's been going on since the driveway is not as clean due to the cold weather/snow. Then on Xmas day my driver's visor breaks
off and is retained only by the electrical wire. All of this happening within a week.
So, I'm thinking the worse...oil leak ?? visor?? taking out my roof lining??
Took it on Monday for them to look at the visor and ordered the part. Took 3 business days to come in. Yesterday it goes in for oil service, "oil" leak and visor repair. Turns out to be a coolant leak
due to faulty clamp which was replaced. The visor was a simple $2.95 part for repair.
So, all went smoothly and fully repaired in about two hours. Feels so new again. Despite this small hiccup, I love this Jeep and it's still makes me smile and content.
