3 Month Service

I just got an e-mail and phone message stating I had an appointment scheduled for next Monday and to please call if I could not make it. I looked and this day is exactly 3 months since my purchase date. I did not schedule any appointments and do not intend to take it into the dealer. I haven't been able to get an answer from the service department yet as to why this was scheduled. Has anyone else experienced something similar from their dealership and what is it all about? Do they want to check my blinker fluid level or something?

You're probably spot-on. I e-mailed them back a few hours ago stating that I had not made an appt. and do not require service at this time. I asked them what the purpose of the service was and have still not heard a response.

This sure gives me a warm and fuzzy about this dealership's service department when the time comes where I really do need to take it in for issues.

However, I received certificates to get the first 4 oil changes for free (I change the oil myself anyways, so they were set aside), so who knows...probably some automated e-mail fishing for takers.

My dealer also called after three months. At the time I had only 3000 miles on the clock. At 3500 miles the "change oil" light came on and I took it in. I guess the dealers estimate about 1000 miles per month for the average driver. Use your freebies. You can always double check their work if you are concerned.

It's quicker and a lot more convenient for me to just spend 15 minutes and do it in my garage. Not to mention I have enough Mobil1 oil and filters on the shelf for 8 more oil changes.

My dealer schedules Oil Changes every three months. They call you and tell you that you have an appointment. I told the clerk that I was sticking to Chrysler Jeep oil change intervals and I would call them when it was the correct time to change the oil. They know it's a a bit of a scam and they back off.

My dealer didn't do this. I only drive ~8000 miles per year so my service advisor recommended a ~5-6 month oil change cycle. The dash light went off around 3k after 4-5 months but I took it on a 1k roadtrip before I could get in back in sept. Then They gave me a reminder sticker for january but I'm waiting for the jeep to tell me it's time for another oil change any day now. I only have 6300 miles on it now and it's been 5 months.
