Yes, it's stated right on the pumps. "May contain up to 10% ethanol".

BTW, in the US, "up to 10%" means at least 9%.

My 2006 Mustang is said to weigh about 3600 lbs and is a much smaller 4 seater.

All the creature comforts (power heated vented seats, AC std - front and rear systems in some cases- , 10 speaker sound systems), safety cages, door bars within the doors, 20 inch wheels and multi seat airbags add a lot of weight.
Good points - except about the wheels. Back in the day, the wheels would have been steel. Alloy wheels are lighter. So although there's no question that cars are getting heavier, manufacturers have tried very hard to reduce the unsprung weight in order to improve handling.

Re: 32 MPG Jeep V6 Pentastar?

My new GC with the Pentastar has a window build sticker that claims 32 mpg. That is for Canadian gallons, which are bigger than US gallons. A US gallon has 3.78 litres whereas the CDN gallon has 4.5 litres. I haven't had mine long enough to actually test the mileage, but I'm realistic enough to know I won't actually get the 32 mpg

Thanks jd2012jgc.

I did state "Imperial" gallons.

padgett: I guess the old "engineering" mind missed that point....

chuckster: yeah, good luck to anyone who thinks that they'll actually achieve 32 MPG's!

Re: 32 MPG Jeep V6 Pentastar?

Note that in my original post I specified US gallons and used the 8.9 l/100km for conversion which gave the 26.44 MPG value.

This could reflect cruise MPG at 55 mph & seems reasonable since I averaged 24.6 on my Lakeland round trip including some piddling around the airport. On winter gas with less than 1,000 miles on the clock.

Now that I have proper instrumentation/logging capability am going to see about some baselines this weekend.

Re: 32 MPG Jeep V6 Pentastar?

You would think that someone from the dealership would have noticed the mistake and removed it. It's been on their door for over a year.

There are very few "plug-in" Hybrids available. The regular Toyota Prius that gets about 51 mpg is not a "plug-in". All charging is done while the vehicle is rolling including generation during inertial braking. Toyota did just recently announce a plug-in version which will run on "pure electric" for a maxium of 11 miles before requiring the gasoline engine to kick in. The EPA "equivalent" MPG for that vehicle is 95 mpg with 50mpg in "hybrid" mode. The first figure accounts for energy used to recharge from an electrical source. (Recharge takes an hour and a half using a 240v source) The Nissan Leaf is electric only. The Chevy Volt is hybrid with a focus on electric and a small gas engine to assist with charging as needed.

We have owned two Prius vehicles (2002 and 2008) with the latter replaced by a Subaru Outback Limited last November for better traction and handling. I loved...loved...loved my 2006 Highlander Hybrid Limited that I traded for my Summit. But it was "time" and I have a horse trailer towing need that the Jeep is better suited for.

Back to the thread...it will be interesting to see what that ad poster actually said.
