4000 mile review

Me and my son went out for drive this Saturday after getting about 8 inches of snow. By the time we got out most of the roads were already plowed but the view was still nice. On this trip I hit 4000 miles.

I have put more miles on this vehicle in 1 month than I have on any vehicle in the past. I did take it on a 2000 mile round trip shortly after getting it (like 3 days after getting it) so that attributed to many of the miles. I also pulled a 6x12 enclosed trailer 120 miles at speeds of 80mph so I got a good feel for the pulling characteristics.

Highway travel is amazing. Quiet, smooth, and the all th electronics are nice. Had 2 adults, 1 child, 3 golden retrievers and fully loaded luggage rack for our 1st trip. In sub-freezing temperatures on 87 octance I got 16.5mpg @80mph, I didn't think to shabby.

On the open highway empty @ 80mph I have achieved 19.1 mpg, very good IMO for such a heavy vechile and large displacement motor.

The power of the Hemi puts a smile on my face. By far not fast in respect to vehicles I have had but does what it needs to well.

In town the only complaint I have is the shorter wheel base I feel more imperfections in the road (coming from long wheel based trucks or really tall side walls on my Raptor). I love that it blends in (past vehicles have stuck out for one reason or another), kind of weird I know, but as I get older I just like to be left alone and not peppered with questions everytime I pull in somewhere.

Handles snow amazingly. Could use some snow tires for more extreme snow cases as braking and turning can get hairy but for what the tires are the Jeep does amazing.

Here is a picture of where I was at when it turned 4000 miles, perfect IMO :)

So far I am very happy with this purchase.

Thanks Jeep!

Awesome review thanks for taking the time to post it up. These are the kind of threads that make the wait for my Overland delivery harder and harder!

I know what you mean about the Jeep looks. It looks like a normal SUV, but at the same time to me it does look special. I cant explain it but something about the Grand Cherokee's has always been just different enough that its not your normal SUV. My previous 08 Grand Cherokee SRT8 you couldnt go anywhere without someone saying something or asking you questions about it. I dont mind that kind of stuff though :)

IMO it is the best looking SUV on the market. I looked and drove them all before buying (except the Land Rover, I think they fugly!) When it comes to big purchases I don't stay brand specific. My last 4 vehicles (except for a 6 month run with my 06 SRT8 Cherokee) have been Fords. Loved everyone of them. But the new designed Jeep stole my heart

I used to not mind it and actually welcomed it, but as I get older, I realize that with this comes haters and people who for no reason other than just to start something have to talk smack. I have videos on youtube, some from as long as 3 years ago and I still get people posting up that their Chevy would walk my truck.......one was a lifted 4x4 and the other was the SVT Raptor, niether built as a fast truck, why am I concerned about if you Chevy can beat it???? Just gets old.

Although, did put a Hemi badge on the Cherokee, so I guess a small part of me like a little attention still
