Thanks for the information. I think that is what I am going to do. Pick up a 2011 Overland/summit. And over time just add to it.

yes but make sure you have 20 in wheels, as they are too big for the 18s.

They don't fit behind the non SRT 20's anyway so don't worry about what wheels it comes with you'll have to change them either way

Just had the Ripp Supercharger installed in my 14 GC Summit 5.7. All I can say is WOW! It is a huge difference from stock. If you have the coin do it. It is so fun to drive.

Give us some more details of your impressions. For example, how does it compare at each gear from stock, take off from standstill traffic, highway, can you hear the supercharger at work (induction sound) etc.

The shift points are so much smoother than stock. You can drive the jeep with out ever getting onto the S/C. But once you put your foot into the pedal you can feel the power. It jumps off the line when you get into it, especially in sport mode. You can hear the S/C whine, it sounds awesome.

I'd say 0-60 is probably 1.5-2.0 seconds faster than stock. I doubt it would be as quick off the line as an SRT but it wouldn't get demolished by any stretch. So much fun. The rolling start is where it really shines. You'd be amazed at how fast you hit 90 and the thing wants to keep going.

My 3.6 is at Ripp right now having the kit put on. When I spoke to them they said they had run the Ripp 3.6 (8 speed) against the their near stock shop SRT and it wasn't far off in acceleration. They're suppose to put a video up soon. I would imagine the Ripp 5.7 would have to beat out the SRT straight line

A question on these super chargers. Installing these im sure voids you 100k factory powertrain warranty. Do the installers of the SC give you any type of warranty on powertrain, im sure nothing like factory but do you get any warranty concerning powertrain problems say a year from now or anything like that? Or are you on your own? Just curious as im not knowledgeable on super chargers. Thanks

I believe the Magnuson Moss warranty act (US Code-Title 15, Chapter 50, Sections 2301-2312) basically states that the dealership cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to failure in the vehicle. However this can be tricky because dealerships can try to say anything to protect themselves and Chrysler may not offer support if something goes wrong.

I have been looking at a number of systems lately including Vortech that has extensive experience working with Chrysler and Jeep cars- I know on my previous vehicle I had a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty after the system was installed. However that was on a car way past manufacturer's warranty. Basically I am not going to take a chance just to be on the safe side.

Thanks- that is what I thought. Sounds like a lot of fun. I have been looking at various systems including Vortech to see what can be done but still unsure about warranty issues. My local mechanic that I have been going to for years said Procharger makes some really good ones for the Jeep. I know that Procharger is definitely up there and makes more power than other systems. However I like Vortech's efficiency. Enjoy the ride!
