Re: 5.7L vs 3.6L Actual MPG?

Here's for when you get the 8 speed! I average around 16mpg with my V6. Sad because it's mainly interstate driving. Must be the big tires.

Re: 5.7L vs 3.6L Actual MPG?

I average right around 19mpg daily driving in my 2012 V6 Laredo. A little less now that it's been cold and windy. My daily drive is about 10 miles of open highway mixed with some stop and go on the Baltimore beltway and a lot of stop and go for the last 5 miles home during the afternoon rush hour. Plus some suburban driving around home as needed. On the highway I averaged 23 mpg but that was not interstate so it did iclude some rdelights and traffic. When I tow my utility trailer with atv (total weight about 1300 pounds) I drop to 16-17 mpg on basically the same trip that I got 23 mpg on.The V6 still has adequate passing power while towing that. You just need to get the trans to kick down and it will accelerate pretty well.

I drive in stop-and-go heavy city traffic every day to work and I get about 12.5 MPG in my V8

17-18 in town and 25 hwy with my V6... Like the hwy mpg but city isn't impressing me and I wish I got the v8 cause the v6 feels like a dog at times...

Re: 5.7L vs 3.6L Actual MPG?

I do 20-23mpg highway with my WK2 Hemi on road trips longer than 50miles and loaded with people or gear. I usually only drive it on weekends and vacations so it's not the mpg that I look at, it's the total gallons used -- no big deal IMHO. I fill it up about 20 times per year which costs about $1500. So I could have had a Penta, but I don't mind the few hundred bucks more per year trade off for the towing and haulling-tush capability.

Relatedly, I have the Penta/5spd auto in my 2dr Wrangler and get 21-24mpg highway with that, or 19.5mpg if in a strong headwind, all at 65mph. In the city it's 17-19mpg and in Chicago's downtown crawl it dips into the 16s. The Hemi Grand in Chicago's crawl is 13-14mpg.

Re: 5.7L vs 3.6L Actual MPG?

I drive a 2012 5.7 L with the "six" speed transmission in hilly central Connecticut and use regular 87 octane. The best mostly highway average I've seen is 20 miles per gallon on a long road trip. Right now, in the cold Winter air, I'm averaging only 14.2 miles per gallon in mostly local driving; during the Summer, I average 15.5 miles per gallon. When towing my ~2,000 pound boat on its single axle brakeless trailer, my average drops to as low as 12.0 miles per gallon, but the Jeep still drives almost like the trailer isn't even there. I use Tow/Haul mode only in the hills; I turn it off on flats or long downhill grades.

Oh I forgot to mention this is all hand calculated mpg. NOT form the EVIC which seems to be anywhere from .5-almost 2 mpg high at each fillup.

Re: 5.7L vs 3.6L Actual MPG?

This past weekend, I averaged 12mpg over 750 miles pulling a 5x8 enclosed uhaul trailer with my 350lb motorcycle. There were also a bunch of boxes in the back of the GC. I was also cruising though (about 75). Kept it in tow mode most of the way which kept it out of 6th gear.
