The tread lightly, affiliate, and other such programs should probably be presented during price negotiations. This is how you will determine your vehicle cost. This is what I did to get the invoice -1% price. The bonus cash allowance certificate is date of delivery sensitive, so should probably be presented at time of delivery. JMHO.

Unfortunately most dealers that are doing any REAL discounting of the invoice price aren't accepting the additional 1000 off because of the tread lightly...

I believe they will accept it with affiliate program, but as you say, that's not as deep as some are getting with group deals and on their own. That's why all the small print on the cash allowance cards.

I'd like to relate a story a friend of mine, who used to be a new car salesman, told me. He said you wouldn't believe how many people walk into a new car showroom and pick out a car and pay the msrp sticker price without batting an eye. Like they were buying oranges at the grocery store. He said he put three kids through college with their money. Of course, today we have the internet to get much more information than used to be available, but dealers don't advertise deals like a lot of us are getting unless they feel some pressure from the buyer. The folks here at Jeep Garage are probably some of the more savvy buyers hitting the showrooms. Remember, dealers are basically in it to make money, but if they're smart, they'd rather make a little, rather than none.

I guess I'll find out soon....it says right on the coupon that it is an additive to affiliate programs...so if your dealer doesn't take it....have him read the back and then go to a different dealer.

I always wonder why some dealers feel like they have to hit a home run off of every buyer instead of focusing on volume of customers and referrals. There will be that msrp customer but don't expect that from everyone.

Price from the dealership is from the dealership, affiliate or not, the rebates and bonus cash are from the factory. They will lie, but they have to accept that.

I guess they think it's difficult when they may be already offering 3-6% off invoice and then you hit them with a $500 -1000 card from jeep and you're trying to use the $1000 tread lightly.

Treadlightly is 1%, not $1000. If you happen to get this $500-$1000 card from jeep, that can be used as well.

That doesn't make any sense. The dealers holdback increases by an extra 2% of msrp when you use tread lightly. Their holdback is usually 3% of msrp and with the affiliate program the total for the dealer is 5% of msrp. So the percent off shouldn't make that much of a difference to the dealer and the coupons and other incentives should be separate. If they make a couple hundred bucks and then you use the $500 cash coupon and any other national incentives it's not money out of their pocket really the rest of that comes from Jeep. I may be wrong here, but I don't think the dealers would really care about how much you get off from Jeep as long as they get paid something.
