What makes her even hotter is the fact the she drives an SRT. I'm assuming the name SRT girl means she drives an SRT.

No, your summary sucks just like your reading comprehension. I said you need to be financially stable. I also said (previously) "anything nice to enjoy" does not HAVE to include a 50K GC. There are other nice things to buy that are more suited to a young guy who appears to have just "landed on his feet".

And you're a total jackass so now we all have a handle on our shortcomings.

To help YOUR reading comprehension, the OP is in his early 30s, not 25 (not everybody has kids in their early 20s)...and he and his wife have been earning ~ $250k for 2-3 years, not "just now landed on his feet". Plenty of income levels below $250k that are also quite strong, so the idea that "just now" he's gotten to where he's making some money is a stretch. No debt, owns a home, is investing for the future, has $11k per month income after his taxes and his savings/investment plan. He's pretty stable IMHO.

OP, buy your Jeep.

You know perfectly well what I drive. What can I say I have a short attention span with cars. The SRT did last 3 years though, pretty good considering my history.

I've had my 13 for a year and a half now, some of you just don't pay attention. Got tired of going fast, now I can go anywhere.

Now everyone get back on topic before I start deleting again!!!

Early 30's hardly changes the picture any, though I have to admit missing that piece of information. Having a mortgage is not = debt free, just in case you missed that. Since we're speculating on the possibility of him making "quite strong" income, you should also speculate on his mortgage and living costs; they also tend to be "quite strong" in areas / locations of "quite strong" income. And don't forget cost of education which is usually quite high for jobs that are quite strong. He may have just finished paying off some massive student loans b/n him and his wife. "Just finished landing on his feet" doesn't seem so much of a stretch now does it?

You go right ahead and tell OP to buy his jeep. I've said my piece multiple times, and with the information he gave, I think it would be quite unwise.

Since I've been called everything from "Nanny" to "jackass" I'm just going to take the hint and be on my merry way.

See you fine folks around...

The post I quoted wasn't even directed at me. You're just acting like a jackass. You aren't a financial guru because you've read "The Millionaire Next Door", plenty of other people have built wealth and stability for themselves while driving nice cars and spending money in their 20s and 30s, myself included.

Quote:

Which is why I have said he indicated he was debt free except for his mortgage plenty of times. Anyways, I think paying off a 4% interest deductible mortgage is stupid as long as you have income to need deductions on. If he had no mortgage he'd be paying a huge lump to uncle sam every year.

And I have no issue with your advice or viewpoint, what I take issue with is your continued assertion that those of us who don't choose to live the frugal lifestyle you do and choose to spend on these vehicles new are stupid and cannot possibly be also financially stable unless we're in our 50s. Thats preposterous, and I'll compare net worth with you any day of the week.

34 here...tonight I think I'll take my wife out for a $150 dinner. All I have to decide is whether to drive my new $50,000 Jeep, or my year old $60,000 Lexus. Decisions decisions. I suppose I better enjoy it now because I'm sure to wind up in a cardboard box in short order because I bought some cars before I turned 50.

Enjoy your chicken and your second hand base model Jeep, and I hope somebody enjoys your money after you're gone.
