5w20

I just got my Overland back from the dealer after 10K service. They used 5W40 synthetic oil.
I asked why not 5W20 and they said they use 5W40 on all the Jeeps and that it was better anyway.
My question is this...I am sure I read that the MDS very specifically needs 5W20. How true is this and does anybody know of a specific instruction from Jeep to ONLY use this?
How do I convince them? Write to Jeep in the US and get them to send me something in writing maybe?
I don't even want to think about what they will use in the diff's, TC and transmission.

BTW, I complained to Chrysler about the oil issue and told them that I was invoiced for 5W40 and Jeep service said that was all they used.
Chrysler's answer was that the invoice must be wrong. I told them that the service center confirmed they used 5W40, but they insisted that was not possible as it is clearly stated to use 5W20, so the invoice must be wrong...

That sounds pretty shady to me. If the manual states a certain grade, that should be used regardless of anything else.

But, I really don't care what oil they put in there, as long as everything still works. As long as the dealer changes the oil, it keeps the warranty. If you still have the warranty, they have to fix the issues.

I know a few people that change their own oil and dealers around here have voided warranties because of that, even though the owners had receipts showing that they used the correct oil. The dealers said they cannot prove that that was the oil that was used in the vehicle.

If I have a car under warranty, I always let the dealer change it so it is on record that they did the work and if something fails it is on them, not me.
