For all dealers in my area, and I assume that they had ordered their initial inventory, there's very few V8 equipped JGCs. Most inventory is V6 Laredos...almost 10 to 1 it seems.

IIRC, the Car and Driver review of the Laredo said that Chrysler was anticipating 60/40 split of people taking the Pentastar six over the Hemi eight. Looks like a wider split than they expected.

I wonder if the engine plant is having issues keeping up.

Currently, yes, considering right now they are only building around 400 a day and uh, almost twice that, equals the amount of WKs that are built per day (dang sure isn't 900...). If it seems like 5.7L WKs are getting built faster, that is why.

And then we have the Durango. That is going to use the 3.6L too. Also, the minivans, Journey, Sebring and Avenger will be using the 3.6L too so SOMETHING has to happen in Trenton Engine to get capacity up, and quickly. Of course it wouldn't hurt to get the other Pentastar Engine plants going either...

So about ~800 WK's/day then?

My sources indicate approx. 650-750/day for the last week of July; 750-810/day first week of August, 810-875 last week and 870-900/day planned for this week - hence my "almost 900/day" statement.

Plus the 300, Charger and Challenger. And 8 of the vehicles getting the Pentastar will launch in November, plus the 300 launches just before xmas. The engine plant is going to be very busy!

Re: 70,000 orders for Jeep Grand Cherokee

I've heard a lot of problems with the 2010s; complaints and all.

I think 2011 will be a good year for jeep, just need to keep the srt alive for a 2012

Yeah, everything I've read says the Pentastar will be used in pretty much every V-6 application. If it has a six now, eventually it will have this engine in some incarnation.

Which means they're going to have to increase production without losing quality control. I'm sure they will convert over existing engine plants, but the Trenton plant itself is obviously not able to meet current demand, let alone what happens when the minivans see the Pentastar.

Guess I'd better settle in for what may be a rather long wait.

Those are targets, Milous. I'm talking actual numbers.

And oh yeah, I did forget the 300, Charger and Challenger...

In my area, if you want a Laredo in some form, with the V6, there's plenty of stock. However, most of those dealers are quoting MSRP for the stock vehicles.

Milous: Do you think my Overland V6 ordered July 20th will be built before they shut the plant down? It was given a VON the day I ordered but I haven't heard anything since... (maybe building ordered overlands now?) My lease is up the 30th so I really hope I don't get caught in a 3 week shut down.....

Hey Brian... be sure to check out this thread..

NEW Build status tracking By Milous for site supporters

If you become a site supporter there is a special forum that you can go to, where Milous will track your vehicle along its build process... As far as I know, the plant was/is to shut down, no confirmation on when or definitely if, it wasn't supposed to according to media releases for the 2011 Jefferson plant.

Also.. It's not that it might not be done.. but if you were to get it by the 30th... it would be on a rail car by now more then likely.. If you don't even have a VIN yet from the dealer.. it may take a few more (or many) weeks. Some people ordered early July and its still only in D or D1 or Not Yet Scheduled...

Re: 70,000 orders for Jeep Grand Cherokee

Thanks, I will check it out. I'm OK with not getting it until mid- September. If it's much longer then that I may be out of luck with the Jeep. Renting a car for months would not be good!
