Of course they will quote MSRP for them. That is when you hang up the phone/walk away and go elsewhere.

Anyone on here that is paying MSRP or above simply doesnt care about how much they are paying. To get one of the first few on the lot (those blackberry models they sent to all the dealers) sure maybe MSRP would make sense. At this point it does not.

I ordered on July 5th for a limited hemi and paid below MSRP.

Re: 70,000 orders for Jeep Grand Cherokee

"August represented the first full month that the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee was on sale. Chrysler sold 6,393 of the midsize SUV, down 17% from the sale of its preceding model a year earlier. "

Read more: Chrysler sales up 7% with Jeep leading the way | freep.com | Detroit Free Press http://www.freep.com/article/2010090...#ixzz0yKnt5US3

From the forum, JGC has more than 100k orders, around 40k were already produced ... and July + August sales are less than 10k ... I wander why "real" customer orders have to wait 2-3-4 months just to produce cars for dealer stock ...

On the positive side, Chrysler claims the new JGC is helping Jeep sales overal.

Re: 70,000 orders for Jeep Grand Cherokee

As I recall, the production of '10 WKs was just under 40,000. How could 7k in one month be "down 17%" from that year's model???

Seems disappointing. I thought Jeep had a big hit here? Does anybody know if the disappointing sales are due to availability?

Re: 70,000 orders for Jeep Grand Cherokee

Isn't the 70,000 orders inclusive of dealer inventory for the entire model year?

Does the sales include vehicles that were 'ordered'? - I think it does?

As for the HIT part ...
It is still an SUV. Crossovers appear to be all the rage now
Best case it gets 22 MPG On the highway (ignoring the 4X2)
It starts at 33K (with dest) for cloth seats, and no sunroof

For that same 33K I can get an AWD V6 Sorento, Equinox,Outback pretty well maxed out on the goodies and get better HWY mileage all around (25,24,25 respectively)

As for availability there are 87 on dealer lots near me now, including 3 Overlands (I'm in MA). 2 dealers already advertise below invoice pricing in my area.

With all that said I want one but not sure I want it enough to put such a big hole in my savings.

please dont compare the wk2 to a sorento, equinox or outback. The Jeep is in the different league.....

OK let's say it is.. that puts it in the M Class/Land Rover league then. August had 2473 MClass and 2544 total Landrover vehicle sales. Jeep can't sell only 3000 of these a month. The line is sized for 400/shift (even 1 shift is 8800 units a month). They must be expecting to sell to some part of that other league.

People are going to cross shop the JGC against the Equinox,Sorento,Outback. The truth is many people don't care if a vehicle has a trail rated badge. They want that SUV feel with the car mileage and minivan utility.

generic,

go test drive a 5.7 overland, then drive a.....snicker......sorento.....

they may cross shop the base laredo vs. those crap boxes but the overland is in another league. last year you might have been right, but this is a new jeep. Jeep is getting ready to take over the world with this SUV. It's that good.

Re: 70,000 orders for Jeep Grand Cherokee

I expected bigger sales... I will say there are 0 Overlands in Pittsburgh for sale... haven't been any since the first demo ones came in July. (at least ones for dealer inventory)

I agree, if orders from July are not yet delivered, what can you expect ... the issue is that many customers are getting pissed off waiting and jeep is producing cars mostly for dealers stock ... bad strategy ... might bite them.
