Re: 70,000 orders for Jeep Grand Cherokee

Like I said before in a previous thread,we should all have patience with Chrysler, because this jeep was rush out too soon before they were really ready, because of the economy crisis we just went through.

Re: 70,000 orders for Jeep Grand Cherokee

Mangoe... I don't agree... they need to inspire confidence in their undeniably damaged brand. They don't do that by botching the launch... Should have waited to release or accept orders on certain models they can't supply in sufficient numbers.

They almost lost me... and if I don't get mine soon I may yet have to move on.

Shipping the few overlands they did at the beginning of July then not having even ordered models appear for three months is pretty much asking for upset customers. There was no indication then that they would not be building any more Overlands until nearly September....

Re: 70,000 orders for Jeep Grand Cherokee

I would rather they take their time and get it right, than what I just saw on CNN with Ferrari, they just recall all their new 458 Italia sport car .......a Ferrari spokesman said the company had investigated the five reported incidents of spontaneous fires in the 458, and traced the problem to materials in the wheel arch lining and heat shield.

Very expensive sport cars,I guess nobody is perfect, only in the eyes of those who worship the Europeans as perfect manufactures of automobile.

Re: 70,000 orders for Jeep Grand Cherokee

Give it time, there's still a very small selection actually on lots right now. Most consumers do NOT order vehicles, they instead buy from lots. If they find something they like, then they buy. Right now, there's not much to buy. Next month, and October's numbers should look better.

Re: 70,000 orders for Jeep Grand Cherokee

Brian - have you seen any WK2s on the streets here in Pgh? I saw a red V6 downtown last week. And I saw a black one coming towards me on 376 near the airport a few weeks back. Apart from that, I've seen none. But I do know that the dealer in Moon sold their sample Overland within a few days of receiving it. It was there in early/mid July, then gone after just a couple days.

I wonder if production is shut down at the Jefferson North plant for the holiday weekend?

I have not scene any... I am mostly in the the Valley area, (Lower Burrell, Allegheny Township, New Ken, Pitt Mills) I didn't happen to see any at the airport a few weeks ago. I know Monroeville Jeep sold an early model Overland very quickly. I couldn't deal with any of the Pitt dealers, Had to go the whole way out to Carmicheals PA to get a reasonable deal on an ordered Overland.

I'm cross shopping with the 4Runner, Pathfinder, Murano, EX35, Venza, Q5, XC60, X3, etc. All get better MPG and acceleration. Over 95% of GC owners never go off road. Why move around 5,000+ lbs?
