Well, from what I have witnessed in the past (regarding ALL Big 3 dealers & Special Edition models)...I fully expect that most (if not all) Jeep dealers that are "allowed" to sell the Trackhawk Hellcat...will have them priced from $100K-$120K...which to me is complete nonsense and too much $$ for any Jeep.
The reason is that, unlike their European competitors, the after-sale customer service & maintenance absolutely SUCKS!!! It has gotten to a point now, at least where I live, that you can't just schedule an appt for service to get a repair done, or even just an oil change, without them wanting to keep it for at least a day or two (for an oil change that takes about 30mins)...I used to be able to make an appt and get in & out, then on my way...not anymore!! But even if there's another dealership 2hrs from me that "may" be better, I should not have to drive 2hrs to get decent service for my vehicle, that is totally unacceptable!!!
On top of it, even if they offer a loaner car, the loaner is a piece of crap subcompact, or at best a stripped out base model Chrysler 200...not even close to the level of a JGC...plus if they want to take my Jeep out of service for a few days & I need an SUV during that timeframe, I am expected to pay for a rental from Enterprise, etc out of my own pocket...again, totally unacceptable!!!
If I am going to pay $70K-$120K for a vehicle, I expect to be accommodated & given much better customer service than that!
I have friends who have Land Rovers, Porsches, Mercedes, etc...and they get way better service than what we get...and their loaner cars are much more on par with what they drop off at the dealer. Heck...Land Rover comes to their house (or work) & drops a very nice loaner SUV off & picks up their vehicle to take it to the dealer for service...then does the reverse when their service is complete!!
Anyways...for me it's not just about the vehicle itself (no matter how great it might be), but rather the entire ownership experience while I own or lease the vehicle.
Simply because, the dealer I buy from might be cool for awhile, but if I move & need to find a new dealer to work with...that customer service experience needs to be the same regardless of dealer site...or for that matter, regardless of salesperson. I have actually had an experience in the past where my original dealer was great until my salesperson quit & left, after that it was like they forgot who I was & didn't care who I was...not acceptable!
So...until the Big 3 dealerships up their game, to where they are on par with their European competitors with regard to their customer service, I refuse to drop that much $$$ on one of their vehicles...I will take my money elsewhere & get treated properly. I'm sure even some of the Euro dealerships have their issues...but not this badly!
If you all don't mind being treated like that (knowing the problems you will inevitably have with the vehicle)...hey, it's your money...you can do what you want...but you can count me out!!!
Now...don't get me wrong, I LOVE my Jeep!! However...the numerous customer service pitfalls just really sours the overall ownership experience for me...and it's not something that I intend to repeat again.
So...unless something changes by the time it's due to replace my JGC (which will be about 2018-2020)...I won't be buying another Jeep again...which would really SUCK, cuz I do really like my Jeep!!! Also...you can bet I will be putting it to good use this Labor Day weekend!!
Have a great Labor Day weekend everyone!!!
