I was expecting a $90K starting price when I first heard of it. If the vehicles still sell with any kind of dealer markup on them they could have priced them higher. And there WILL be markup on these.

At least it will ON ROAD. The Porsche Cayenne Turbo/Turbo S will still kill it OFF ROAD.

But what do JEEP Owners care about Going Off Road.

The current SRT does compete with the existing X5M, Cayenne and GL63 AMG but it's behind all in overall performance. I suspect the gap will widen if used at higher altitude locations which is consistent when comparing a NA engine to one with forced induction. Of course the Track Hawk should change the game.

My gut feel is that the Track Hawk (w/ the Hellcat) should beat the competition. Though let's see what the final product looks like including curb weight and gearing. Both will certainly have an impact on performance. Also I would be surprised if the competition does tweak the output of their powertrains. If not available from the factory, most will have the option of an (relatively) inexpensive tune.

Exciting times to be a car (or truck) enthusiast. Enjoy it now as the next generation products will mostly likely be hybrids. Not that I'm completely against it. Engineered correctly, it could be a great option. But the days of V8 engines with forced induction seem to be drawing to a close (thanks CAFE).

Re: 707-hp GC coming (in case 475 hp isn't enough)

Well, from what I have witnessed in the past (regarding ALL Big 3 dealers & Special Edition models)...I fully expect that most (if not all) Jeep dealers that are "allowed" to sell the Trackhawk Hellcat...will have them priced from $100K-$120K...which to me is complete nonsense and too much $$ for any Jeep.

The reason is that, unlike their European competitors, the after-sale customer service & maintenance absolutely SUCKS!!! It has gotten to a point now, at least where I live, that you can't just schedule an appt for service to get a repair done, or even just an oil change, without them wanting to keep it for at least a day or two (for an oil change that takes about 30mins)...I used to be able to make an appt and get in & out, then on my way...not anymore!! But even if there's another dealership 2hrs from me that "may" be better, I should not have to drive 2hrs to get decent service for my vehicle, that is totally unacceptable!!!

On top of it, even if they offer a loaner car, the loaner is a piece of crap subcompact, or at best a stripped out base model Chrysler 200...not even close to the level of a JGC...plus if they want to take my Jeep out of service for a few days & I need an SUV during that timeframe, I am expected to pay for a rental from Enterprise, etc out of my own pocket...again, totally unacceptable!!!

If I am going to pay $70K-$120K for a vehicle, I expect to be accommodated & given much better customer service than that!

I have friends who have Land Rovers, Porsches, Mercedes, etc...and they get way better service than what we get...and their loaner cars are much more on par with what they drop off at the dealer. Heck...Land Rover comes to their house (or work) & drops a very nice loaner SUV off & picks up their vehicle to take it to the dealer for service...then does the reverse when their service is complete!!

Anyways...for me it's not just about the vehicle itself (no matter how great it might be), but rather the entire ownership experience while I own or lease the vehicle.

Simply because, the dealer I buy from might be cool for awhile, but if I move & need to find a new dealer to work with...that customer service experience needs to be the same regardless of dealer site...or for that matter, regardless of salesperson. I have actually had an experience in the past where my original dealer was great until my salesperson quit & left, after that it was like they forgot who I was & didn't care who I was...not acceptable!

So...until the Big 3 dealerships up their game, to where they are on par with their European competitors with regard to their customer service, I refuse to drop that much $$$ on one of their vehicles...I will take my money elsewhere & get treated properly. I'm sure even some of the Euro dealerships have their issues...but not this badly!

If you all don't mind being treated like that (knowing the problems you will inevitably have with the vehicle)...hey, it's your money...you can do what you want...but you can count me out!!!

Now...don't get me wrong, I LOVE my Jeep!! However...the numerous customer service pitfalls just really sours the overall ownership experience for me...and it's not something that I intend to repeat again.

So...unless something changes by the time it's due to replace my JGC (which will be about 2018-2020)...I won't be buying another Jeep again...which would really SUCK, cuz I do really like my Jeep!!! Also...you can bet I will be putting it to good use this Labor Day weekend!!

Have a great Labor Day weekend everyone!!!

PEACE!!!!!

My dealer doesn't even require an appointment for an oil change...just drive up for their express service. I make an appointment anyway...

Yeah, that's a head scratcher; my Jeep dealer also has an express line, no appointments. They oil change any car too, not just jeep / dodge / ram stuff

While I don't particularly like the sales department at my local dealer, the service department is outstanding. It was incredibly busy on Friday morning, and they still had me out the door in a very reasonable time considering the recall work, oil change and tire rotation. And the waiting lobby is very comfortable to sit...I actually worked the whole time I was there so I didn't get behind on things.

Re: 707-hp GC coming (in case 475 hp isn't enough)

Well, not here... my ex dealer (Metro Chrysler Jeep in johnston, RI) just has same bad service as MichiganFan's. They sure don't know how to make their customers happy... and always made me sitting in waiting room for hours... even they offered me drop off but, i always told them nah, i rather to be around.

For instance, last time i dropped her for oil and recall at 830am... 1.5 hour later, my car still parked in (drop off) garage... I decided to peek at shop to see if its busy or not... ended up with few cars and workers were chatting and killing some times... That made me irritated so i talked with service workers to see whats up? They said yes, working on it... really? 1.5 hour? but, got jeep in and waited for other 2 hours. So, tried to give them few more chances but every time i visit, turns bad. So, all i can say is... SCREW Metro Jeep dealership. Got contacted with chrysler and transferred to Elmwood. Hope they will treat me nice.

end rant/

Re: 707-hp GC coming (in case 475 hp isn't enough)

Hellcat starts at $80k with 700hp. Even with a $20k markup, you are getting to the base price of all the competition.

X5M @ $98k with 560hp

Cayenne Turbo @ $115k with 520hp

Range Rover SVT @ $111k with 550hp

Yes, it's a lot for a Jeep, but still a crazy bargain compared to the market and stomps them in the performance categories. If you're in the boat I am and can only have one vehicle, it's kinda perfect.

I'm not knocking you, but why does everyone keep saying this? I think V8's are readily available in pretty much the same type of vehicles that they were say 10 years ago. No cars with exception of some high end sports cars or luxury seem to come supercharged from the factory.
