Well, time to save up for the 2nd hand SRTs that will be traded in at stealerships all over the country...

That sure would be fun to launch! Unfortunately, I don't think I could swing one of those. It should surely push six figure purchase price.

At $80k, that's a bargain for the potential performance of 700 (ish) HP under the bonnet. Now it's a question of production rate and ADM. If pushed to $100k, outside of the loyalist, it might be difficult to draw new customers away from the German brands.

Give credit to Chrysler (er Fiat) for offering something exciting to the market.

NO COMPARISON!!!! It already competes with the x5m and the turbo. There talking a 3 second car or even quicker..... That's nuts with those times

Here's what gets me about that price. The SRT Grand Cherokee carries a MASSIVE price jump over other models in the product line. About $14,000 over a Summit, which itself isn't cheap... that one is a $20,000 boost over the base model (talking 4x4 model MSRPs here). So a $34,000ish premium over the base model.

With the Charger, the SRT 392 starts at roughly $20,000 more than the SE ($48K vs. 28K). So the SRT model is relatively much less expensive in terms of premium over other trims for the Charger. Yes, the Charger Hellcat starts around $64K... another $16K over the SRT 392 and 36K over the base model.

Back to the Grand Cherokee. Now we're talking that $34K price delta over the Laredo 4x4 for the SRT, and the jump to the Hellcat (assuming the $80K price) adds another $15K. So the Hellcat looks like a bargain over the "regular" SRT, but that's only because the SRT Grand Cherokee is priced so obscenely high.

Yes, I know there's goodies on the SRT that help raise the price, but the fact is, the SRT GC is really REALLY expensive compared to its base model when you look at other FCA models with SRT variants. The Grand Cherokee is one heck of a profit center... no wonder I saw something pegging Jeep as 60% of the value of the entire FCA! If you're bringing in tens of thousands of dollars in profit on a performance SUV and people line up to buy them, you're doing pretty dang well.

Now, factor in the Hellcat. There's no way the Hellcat's going to sell at sticker. They have yet to meet demand for ANY of them and the Grand Cherokee's 4x4 bits will actually help you use that power. I'll honestly be surprised if any sell for under $90K, most likely closer to $100,000 by the addition of dealer "market rate adjustments."

Re: 707-hp GC coming (in case 475 hp isn't enough)

The current JGC SRT is the best selling SRT option out of all of them, if I'm not mistaken. So clearly the price differential isn't hurting sales and the profit isn't hurting FCA. (Presumably the Trackhawk that replaces it for MY16 will be priced similarly...the "SRT" name will only be available on Dodge branded high performance platforms going forward)

What's notable for me is how that Hellcat gets off the line so fast, especially considering just how heavy the JGC platform is, even with the coming weight reduction engineering!

Yes but a lot more goes into an AWD SUV than a car that you are comparing it to (charger / challenger) there is so much more involved in making it handle the power through an AWD drivetrain and added features that the other srt's don't have. And this thing will sell even if it was priced at 100k some lunatics are paying that for challenger/charger hellcat so what makes you think this won't sell easily at that price

Never said it wasn't going to sell at that price. They'll sell every last one and at prices higher than MSRP... I'm just surprised there isn't more of a boost over the "regular" SRT model, mostly because the SRT is already at such a premium.

Agreed I was thinking 89 starting. But I think the cost is justified for the jeep srt being priced at a higher rate than say the challenger and charger because of the complexity and extras it has over them.
