I'm curious, I also waited until about 4500 miles to have the annoyances taken car of. Back at 9500 to have them correct what they didn't previously. It's more than a car to me it's my Mobil office. I spend about 8 to10 hours a day with it.

Have you taken yours in to have the issues and annoyances addressed?
If so what was the outcome?[/QUOTE]

Couple damage issues from transit. Had fixed within a week, especially the ding in the b pillar from transport, staring me in the face every day.

Uconnect is a little flaky, but I know there are updates coming, so why fret over it. It's a new system after all.

Have a couple of minor panel fit issues, will have them address with the first oil change.

My hatch is fine, tail light was off like many others. Fixed it myself.

Hood gap was off slightly, adjusted the bump stop myself

One tiny paint defect, I'm just going to ignore it rather than risk a shoddy repair.

I guess I am fortunate that my issues are minor annoyances. Sucks to have to deal with them, but great truck otherwise. Based on this forum... I did get the lifetime warranty just in case...

Geox, it really is disappointing. You come here to commiserate and wind up facing a firing squad. I don't get it, but whatever...

Re: 9500 Mile update

So, it is interesting to me how we as Americans seem to expect this as a norm. Just a $40k car, a mode of transportation. With issues that will taken care of at the first oil change. I wish you luck.

Never said I expected this as the norm... However, I can't will an alternate reality, and at least for me, they dont detract from enjoying the truck, so why burn mental energy stressing over them. S&$t happens, move on. Dealers suck, find another.

Got my first rock chip on day 2 of ownership, pissed me off, but at least that is out of the way now...

I could perhaps afford something more expensive, but I have always had a love affair with Jeeps so I go back and forth with my '14. One day I want to be done with it, the next day I just don't want to let it go. Maybe that's why I react so viscerally to these issues. Especially because my mom and dad came from very humble beginnings and we never really had a new car when I was growing up, I count my blessing every single day that I am able to afford to drive a new one - so maybe it just disappoints me more than most to have this happen.
I think most people understand you want the vehicle to be perfect and you should get a vehicle in proper working order as that is what you paid for. I can understand what you are saying and I can understand the frustration. When I looked at my tailgate there is a bigger gap on the left side but I won't have them touch it because I am not having a problem with it. I don't like creating problems and that can happen when they start tearing things apart. I have no doubt you are having some issues with your jeep and hopefully you can get them resolved. When you had the water problem where was it collecting at?

JP, if you hear a sloshing sound, have the dealership check under the driver's seat. I was hearing the sloshing with my windows opened when I braked. Apparently, the AC drains under there somewhere and if the hose is leaking or faulty, water accumulates. I am not an expert on the schematic of the car but the dealer claimed a faulty AC drain allowed water to collect under the driver's seat. This is what the dealer reported, not what I saw personally. And I recall others claiming they had water collecting under the passenger seat. I think there may be issues with the sunroof as well, which causes water to accumulate under the seats. Again, I didn't actually watch the dealership resolve my issue, but the work order says faulty A/C. I think if you search under the word "sloshing" or "water" you'll get some hits. As far as the rear hatch, I TOTALLY agree with you. It's sort of an eyesore for me, but it's not causing any functional issues from what I can tell so I've simply not had the issue addressed. The tranny issue is kinda confusing (i.e. it clunks and makes the car jerk at low speed) because it seems OK otherwise (even though I believe it gets to 8th WAY to early).

I have not had any water sloshing yet. I can tell you on my hemi it goes into 8th at just about 50mph. There was another member on here that had water under the drivers seat that caused some electrical issues so maybe this is the root of your problems.

Re: 9500 Mile update

I have a comment about the sloshing noise.I spend a lot of time in the Jeep.
Sometimes on Job sites I will drive on different terrain at very low speeds.
I hear a sloshing noise if my gas tanks is half full. I kind of listened for it for a period of time over several weeks and have determined the noise I hear is the gas in the tank. I remember my 2005 GC had the same noise when the tank was half full.
Could this be what you are hearing?

My first instinct was that I was just hearing things. But after hearing that sound over time, I figured it must be the gas tank. The problem was, the noise was definitely coming from the front of the car, and not the back. It was only when I noticed on Jeep Garage that others were having this issue that I called the dealer.

As a person VERY seriously considering a '14 Overland after years of BMWs I find these threads of great interest. While all vehicles can have issues, how a manufacturer handles them says much. I readily admit to being fairly leery after seeing virtually EVERY Overland/Summit at the dealer have misaligned panels and reading these threads. True, mostly those with issues post, bit still......
Same here. Looking at the '14's and these post, learning what to look out for and try to see if these issues are systemic.

As far as some of these argumentative posters.....that is how a small portion of the population entertains themselves.

Re: 9500 Mile update

I am going to put a whole different spin on this... After reading the entire thread over the last 24 hours...

Dealers are dealers and some of them are terrible, this is not brand specific. My Mercedes dealer was worse than any customer service issues. They destroyed my Rims when installing tires, then after they got them Rims fixed, my wheel fell off on the highway the next day. They also leaked private information to some employees at a company where I worked about the company car payments. They did lots of other bad things to many people but I will keep it short and sweet.

My good Friends BMW 7 Series died 5 times while he was driving it.... COMPLETELY dead. Dealer put all kinds of parts on it. The vehicle was less than 3 months old and he had to threaten not only a lawsuit but to pay to take out adds in local papers describing his experiences in order to get them to by the vehicle back.

I don't want to downplay anyones issues here. Anyone who has read my posts, I like to help where I can and I will take any polite person at the benifit of my doubt and assume that they are having issues. There are some people that complain more than others about maybe some things than no one else is concerned about, but I am not labeling anyone here.

No one brand has hugely better service and or quality at the volumes that are being produced. In fact I would say that considering the small market share that some of the premium brands have here and the price they should be perfect, but they are not either. If they start putting the same number of X5s on the road a year as the JGC we can compare forum complaints closer.

Many years ago my Grandfather who was a car guy almost his entire life said "No one manufacturer has a perfect car ownership experience, or nobody would buy anything else, because if it cost 30% more and lasted twice as long everybody else would be out of business"

These are all general statements from a guy who doesn't even have one yet. Just want to make sure we put a HUGELY popular forum in perspective. There are more people here to have issues so I don't think anyone should make this their end all and be all source of reliability on the product.

To those that do have problems, if you have a crap dealer, I hope you do find another one.
