the STI variants have a Rear Electronic Locking Differential and front LSD. Both controlled by the DCCD. No brake lock.

Actually only the center differential (also LSD) is controlled by the DCCD controller. All other Subaru (hmmm not sure about CVT transmission-equipped vehicles) have a center LSD with a 50-50 power distribution. Newer Foresters have a similar BLD implementation to the Jeep.

I've hang out with STI drivers very often (duh...NASIOC local chapter meetings) for the past 12 years. I am yet to meet one that doesn't keep his DCCD in Auto (i.e. nobody that I know locks his front-rear power distribution in a rear drive biased mode).

Also, he said no V6 in a subaru, and that statement is 100% correct...they only ever had the flat 6. Big difference between a V6 and a horizontally opposed flat 6.
Quite true, but Subie owners tend to be more mellow than Porsche owners when you call their boxer engines "V" anything. They may add you to their "ignorant unwashed peasant" list, but most are too polite to inform you of your status.

Yea, it doesn't get the fuel economy that the two Prii we had did, but...it also doesn't get stuck in our driveway when it snows. We kept the 2011 when we bought the 2016 so our 17 yo daughter would have a safe and capable vehicle to drive until she's able to buy her own after college.
They've come a long way since the 16 horsepower Mal Bricklin versions.

I frequently wish that Jeep had been bought by Fuji Heavy Industries with the best of the Jeep and Subaru product lines being offered.

No doubt - been to one NAISOC meeting...was my last one too.

I do enjoy the Legacy...

A couple of weeks ago, in my stock Grand Cherokee. I've done it before, when it had the OEM Forteras, too. At Hollister Hills, on Fremontia Drive, for example.

Have them try the diesel! Great mileage in the JGC CRD.

Subaru makes a good car, and for all of us, our rigs are very capable. I tend to believe it is driver skill and experience that makes the big difference. A pro driving a 3-cyl lifted FWD Geo Metro could probably run circles around me in my JGC CRD. I'm still learning.

Who knows anymore...but just because they have a boxer engine that lays low in the engine bay, doesn't mean Subaru are afraid of a little water. Looks like he went in deeper for his car than you did in your picture. Now we've all seen your trip photos and we know you ford rivers and lakes twice a week so I am sure you will find one of your photos where the water is above the sunroof...but just sayin'

Snorkel or not I wouldn't do it...That pre 2009 Forester rode on the same platform as the Impreza 2002-2006, and only sat 2-3 inches taller.

Re: A Subaru Legacy put your Jeep to shame

haha, thanks F1anatic...but the Subaru in the video has a snorkel...with a snorkel you can go almost as deep as you want, in my case it was done without a snorkel so its a big handicap in my favour..

Rgds and have a great weekend.
