Man, that F-150 Raptor is bad azz but quite a bit different vehicle than the JGC or the LR4.

FWIW, a quick cars.com search alone shows that nationwide there are 15,446 available 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokees, with roughly 12-15% being Overlands. This site doesn't capture them all either.

I realize many are looking for the perfect configuraiton or a Summit or a special color or the most recent head unit, but presumably those orders are worth the wait?
I really wanted the Jeep, but it became a matter of principle. I just think it's such poor customer service to keep a customer waiting so long without any explanation as to why, especially on a sold order. I don't know who's shoulders that should fall on, Jeep's or my dealership. But it's just ridiculous. I've seen things posted on here about allocation issues with the dealerships, but when I asked the dealer about this, they acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. I think the JGC is a great vehicle and is worth waiting for some time, not 3+ months. I probably would've settled for an Overland, but my dealer couldn't even get a V8 4X4. They have 60+ JGCs in stock, but no V8 4X4s.

Re: Abandoned my Summit order today

^^ LMAO!! You guys that complain about a car now being in this status, of going from d1 to railcar, crack me up!!! wait for the one you want and/or order (like me I want a new sRT8), buy one of the 12K on the ground or GTFO! AND Stop complaining about Jeep and how they have wrong'd you...if don't like Jeep, GTFO! Hard to have a quality product on a first year run and have EVERYTHING go smoothly

Sorry I have had that bottled up for a while

Proceed with your delay discussions

Whoa...... steady on there big fella!

I'd be most annoyed if I'd ordered mine 3 months ago and they couldn't even promise a delivery date, all the while, there's thousands out there as un-sold stock.

Re: Abandoned my Summit order today

I did a quick search of jeep.com of Jeep Grand Cherokee inventory within 200 miles of Baton Rouge and found two Rugged Brown V8 Hemi Summit's with Trailer Tow IV and Rear DVD (not sure if you wanted that though) in transit to:
Acadiana Dodge Chrysler Jeep
51.95 Miles away
1700 SW Evangeline Trwy
Lafayette,LA 70508
337-232-7361
http://www.acadianadodge.net/new-inv...%2Cyear%20desc
Not sure if they are already sold or not.

They are both 4x2s (Pooch wanted 4x4) plus they have the crappy 430 media center and rear DVD player \ no pano roof. They will sit on the lot for some time.

Wow! I agree. Didn't even think to look if they were 4x4 or 4x2. They're all 4x4 on the lots here in Nebraska so I never even thought of that. I don't want the DVD w/out the Pano Roof either and I agree about the 730N too. Those vehicles have the 730N though. I'm waiting until they make Black Clear Coat again and then I'll get a 4x4 Overland w/ V8 and 730N (can't decide on beige or black interior though). Not ready to part with my 2005 GC Limited Bright Silver w/ 54k miles in perfect condition quite yet anyway.

I personally am giving Jeep a break on the delays, although I respect and understand your position, Pooch. I've been waiting for quite some time myself, but in the grand scheme of things you 'may' not remember the wait if and when you take title of the exact car that you really wanted in the first place. Having a deep appreciation of Jeep is definitely not mainstream...hell, based on the verbal beating I take from my co-workers and family members on my waiting on this "summit" Jeep may constitute some sort of disorder on my part. However, the current vision of myself driving my black summit, with this Borla (or whatever Moosehead has, that's awesome I gotta get it) cat back exhaust, and CAI system will not fade from the memory. IMO, Jeep once again built a true class act but still has that small trace of the growl and the gruff...and therefore the 'romance' associated with a true SUV...I'm just not seeing that unique combo in the marketplace at this price point...IMO

Re: Abandoned my Summit order today

you live in the south, not really prime 4x4 country. if you ordered one from a dealer in the north and you would have had it weeks ago. did a search of my area and got 66 hits....

here is your jeep.........

I have to agree. I have spent the last 2 hours online looking at every make and model SUV out there and nothing appeals to me. I like the LR4 but for the money I feel I am getting more with the jeep. I hate the wait game and hate even more that jeep can't at the least give me a solid answer on the delays. With that said I will play the wait game for as long as it takes. It may very well be another month or two but its a small amount of time considering I am planning on keeping this vehicle for more minimum of 7yrs or more.. Close to 2 months down and maybe 2 more to go:0(

I'm in the north...my order was 1/15...not D1 yet...not necessarily optimal, but again, I'm hopeful
