AC and Auto

My '14 Summit has had no issues what so ever yet. But, I'd like other '14 owners to confirm if the following is the same on their vehicles.

Auto mode works fine, and the AC works fine, but not together. If I'm in Auto climate control mode and then press AC, Auto mode turns off.

Anyone (everyone) else's JGC work this way?

Unless it's a defect on my car, it's unlike any car I've ever owned or been in and hard to imagine that it's supposed to work this way.

Michael

that's the way it works. it's gonna decide by itself once in auto mode how the ac, heating, circulation, fan speed are gonna be...simply based on keeping the temperature set.

if you turn ac it leaves auto mode and will keep ac on no matter what.

it works the same way my kia sportage used to work

Re: AC and Auto

Works the same in my Overland. Had to explain this to my wife since she thought the Auto button was broken since the AC button would always turn off. Way I take it, Auto will regulate and keep the temperature at the desired level where as AC will blow cool air continuously at the temp it's set at.

Re: AC and Auto

Thanks guys,

I guess that I'll just have to expect that this is the way it works.

Re: AC and Auto

Mine too. Tried to explain this exact problem with dealership's service manager today. He simply does not understand that an auto climate system NEEDS AC on for any temperature setting. In auto, you are controlling temperature and humidification level! His response...well you don't want cool air in the winter. I said yes, understood, so I also don't want my breath condensing on the window or my human body moisture (perspiration) evaporating from my exposed skin at 70 F and condensing on the window that is 25 F. Where do we go from here to have competent service people for our sophisticated vehicles??

My 09 Nissan cube...auto, AC goes on.
My 13 RAV4...auto, AC goes on.

Neither EVER have a condensation problem, ever.
