I will add this tidbit:
Yesterday I received a phone call from a high up customer service rep for Chrysler- I had called the cust service line on Monday the 20th, and they said they would "escalate" it. He informed me that my ordered vehicle attained KZ status, and I replied it was too late.
He was glad I still bought a Grand Cherokee, but I did bend his ear a bit about the frustration of seeing my vehicle just sit for 3 weeks. The rep also wanted to know my opinions of the dealerships (I was quite pleased with both of them), and he even said if I had a problem getting my deposit back to call him directly.
I think the folks high up and the folks dealing directly with customers are really trying, but many of the delays (which are just now being cleared out) seem to be the result of a perfect storm of circumstances compounded by general transportation difficulties.
