Accuracy of Dealer Tracking Delivery?

I was wondering if anyone could verify how accurate (is it usually give or take a few days) the dealer tracking the delivery of their Jeep is based on their experiences. My dealer tracked my Jeep last week and it was on a rail car in Ohio and scheduled to be delivered to the dealer in NJ on 9/16 at 8am. Obviously since I am asking this you can ascertain that the Jeep isn't at the dealer yet lol.

Thanks in advance :)

My experience has been that it is accurate. Once "Milous' posted an update my dealer had the same information. Everything went smoothly and I received my Jeep before the scheduled delivery date. Spot on, as far as I'm concerned.

Sometimes it's accurate. Sometimes it isn't. I've had some updates shown by the dealer but not in the tracking thread. I've also just found out that the dispatch papers my dealer received on Monday were retracted; instead of getting my Jeep in the next few days, it's still in Detroit.

At this point, I highly doubt anybody knows what's going on. It's clear Jeep has no clue what is going on- they can't even manage to get vehicles shipped in a timely manner. One Jeep is built a few days ago and gets shipped out immediately. Another few have been sitting there for weeks after assembly with only infrequent updates. Mine has apparently been sitting in a parking lot for two full weeks, and I'm not alone.

Yes its very frustrating...it seems weird that they can have specific details on exactly where the car is like on a rail car in toledo, received at dock, etc..with an a delivery date...and then a no show...I would think if there was that much detail available to the dealer on the computer it would be accurate like when you track a Fedex package and it gives you all those specific events and the delivery date.

Plus they even got a truck with a bunch of Cherokees on there and this one wasn't on the truck!

The thing is that a few of us have just fallen off the face of the earth- since you're showing Site Supporter now you can check the thread yourself. A bunch of us got shunted to the Jefferson Conner parking lot (right across the street from the factory) and then taken to the Eldon Yard lot for Cassens Transport, and now it's like our vehicles have been tossed into some alternative dimension. If that Hemi equipped Overland was at my dealer (I ordered a V-6; this thing is otherwise identical), I'd be there this afternoon canceling my order and taking home the Hemi. I might yet anyway- I doubt mine will show up before the end of next week (if even then), and this one may well show early next week. Unless mine starts showing up with actual tracking info soon (or this other one gets sold already), I may not be taking delivery of what I ordered.

I have found my dealer to be pretty helpful on tracking the vehicle, however, they get the infrormation from Jeep. Unfortunately, I have some real misgivings about Jeep's idea of customer satisfaction. In fact, my best description is "somewhat deceptive." I ordered my Overland 7/12. For weeks all I knew was D1 status (see WK2Jeeps for build codes). Then the car was built, but immediately went to JS status (storage). I called Jeep several times asking when it would be shipped and they kept telling me it was delayed for "extra quality control." Four times they gave me an estimated shipping date that had already passed, sometimes by two-plus weeks. Yesterday, I went to KZ status which among other things, allows the dealer to see what really happened. My car was built 8/23, went to storage, returned to the factory for ONE day, and then was put back in storage. I now have a estimated rail loading date of 9/29. I believe that a company that just comes out of bankruptcy and has a popular new vehicle should square with its customers and try to keep them up to date with accurate and honest information. Trying to keep me in the dark with broad brush generalities makes me wonder how they will handle future quality or recall issues.

Completely agreed and equally, if not more, frustrated.

My dealer told me when mine leaft te factory and updated me daily as to where it was. Made it fun to know she was sleeping in Tenn one night and in Jax the next. The delay came when the rail car arrived at the auto depot train lot, the "workers" there seem to have their own ideas about how and when to unload the train cars. No concern that MY BABY was among cars destined for a dealers lot - they do not know the meaning of ASAP - and I was told they are union so they do it their way. She sat at that railroad depot until Tuesday even thought she came into town the previous Friday.

I will add this tidbit:

Yesterday I received a phone call from a high up customer service rep for Chrysler- I had called the cust service line on Monday the 20th, and they said they would "escalate" it. He informed me that my ordered vehicle attained KZ status, and I replied it was too late.

He was glad I still bought a Grand Cherokee, but I did bend his ear a bit about the frustration of seeing my vehicle just sit for 3 weeks. The rep also wanted to know my opinions of the dealerships (I was quite pleased with both of them), and he even said if I had a problem getting my deposit back to call him directly.

I think the folks high up and the folks dealing directly with customers are really trying, but many of the delays (which are just now being cleared out) seem to be the result of a perfect storm of circumstances compounded by general transportation difficulties.

I am glad I joined this website. My original order date was today. If I didn't know the date was that "estimated," I would be pretty mad right now. Luckily I read all of the others waiting for longer than me, and I realize I can't be pissed. It has only been about 4 weeks since ordering an Overland 4x4.
