Is anyone aware of an adapter for an aftermarket CD player that will allow the USB port under the center armrest to function?

Not sure specifically on the armrest USB wiring websurfer, but generally, if your aftermarket head unit provides for a USB input then the armrest wiring should be able to be retrofitted.

As you may know, many aftermarket receivers provide for USB ports that will even allow the head unit to control an IPOD allowing you to leave the device stowed away in the armrest. IME, they are worth the premium to get this control ability up on the dash.

Which unit are you looking at?

I have a Pioneer Premier DEH-P3900MP installed. It has an available adapter specifically for IPODs but I don't have an IPOD. It does not have a USB input.

I'm looking at upgrading to a unit with satellite radio and USB capability if I can use the input in the armrest.

I agree with you that it should be able to be done but I've never really attempted anything along those lines. I may ask a local shop to take a look and see if they think they can do it before I spend the money on a new unit. I'm not sure if this is a new feature for the 2011. If not I'm hoping someone has pulled this off on an older model.
