Re: Adaptive Cruise Control ... deal breaker?

I waited to see the Mineral Gray, then the Saddle, waited for the ACC and the 730(RHR). Not sure about the RHR but for the other stuff well worth the wait.

Re: Adaptive Cruise Control ... deal breaker?

to answer the brake light question... had to take an hour trip today and used ACC most of the way. a car checked up in front of me, ACC slammed on brakes, i looked in rear view mirror and the car behind me was already slowing down. if the tail lights didnt come on they would have never reacted that quickly.

i made a cloverleaf exit from one interstate to the other one. was behind another car. decided not to turn off ACC. went from 75 mph, to 35 mph, back on to the other interstate to 75 mph, never hit the gas or brakes. pretty darn cool for a lazy man like myself.

Re: Adaptive Cruise Control ... deal breaker?

I got it in a slightly different scenario...the vehicle I found on a dealer lot had it and even though it hadn't been on my checklist of accessories, I sprang for it. I have never regretted it! I routinely use all features of the safety tech package, especially the blind spot monitor in the side mirrors.

I have a roller coaster stretch of road in my neighborhood that sets off the FCW if I'm hitting the hills a little hot, but other than that never get any false positives. Love the tech package.

Re: Adaptive Cruise Control ... deal breaker?

Hi there, I'm about to jump into the club and purchase thanks so much for all the input in this post.I've been really hemming and hawing over the ACC package.
I feel like this will be a dumb first post but here goes anyway...Anybody know if the dealer can add the ACC group or can you only get it from factory?
Thanks again, looking forward to the new vehicle and contributing to the forum.

Re: Adaptive Cruise Control ... deal breaker?

My humble observation is that FCW has been much more useful in practice than ACC, but I also drive too fast and have a strong case of ADD therefore staying in one lane at a constant (albeit adaptive) speed is less important (re : ACC) to me...overall the car is great.

Re: Adaptive Cruise Control ... deal breaker?

Has anyone got a radar detector and have it false because of the ACC ?
I plan to install my remote BEL STI in the new Overland CRD and do not want the RD going off if using the ACC.
Also do you get the lane departure option over there ?
In the Overland in Australia, we get every option except the rear DVD, metalic paint and off road pack as our only factory option choices.

Re: Adaptive Cruise Control ... deal breaker?

I have the new(er) Escort Redline, reportedly one of the most sensitive detectors available. . . not one false trigger from the Summit. But then, I'm lucky with machines and technology!

I started a thread about this a few months ago. Some pretty detailed responses. I installed my escort 7500 after purchasing and no false alarms.
