1973Commando, you're awesome. Thank you for being so thorough.

I just got off the phone with the dealer, and they are insisting that ACC w/stop is a feature that's existed since the 2013 model year, and that all 2014s have it, the only difference is that Chrysler has recently started calling it "with stop" on window stickers.

I'm hesitant to take the dealer's word for it. Can anyone else confirm/deny that this is the case? Any early-production 2014 owners being able to ride with ACC all the way down to a full stop?

Thanks, as always!

I would find a new dealer.

Yes, I can confirm that My 2014 GC Overland from spring of this year has the ACC WITHOUT stop and you will hit the vehicle in front of you if you don't use the brakes.

ACC without stop works until the vehicle in front of you slows down to about 17 mile per hour. It then yells BRAKE! BRAKE! BRAKE! (flashes on the 7" speedometer area screen) and you will hit the vehicle if you don't hit the brakes.

Our other 2014 GC Overland that was delivered in August has ACC with stop and it silently slows you down to a complete stop.

I would like to see them demo a 2013 without touching the brakes and watch them smash into the car in front of them (without being in the vehicle with them of course).

You should be hesitant, as they are WRONG.

The Stop feature was implemented starting with late July 2013 production. It did not appear on any Grand Cherokee vehicles prior to that.

DON'T buy the one on the lot. Find a different dealer with fresher inventory, or place a special order.

Re: Adaptive Cruise Control Stop-go

Thank you, guys. When he calls back, I'll make sure to set him straight.

I'm finding this whole process incredibly frustrating. This is the second dealer that has either lied to me or told me I'm wrong (that the ACC was updated mid-year). It's astounding that the customer is the only one with any good information about the product here.

Of course, I have you all at this forum to thank. Hopefully I can find a dealer worth a damn sometime soon, I'm very stoked to get myself into a new Overland.

I wouldn't necessarily assume the dealer is doing this to talk you into buying the vehicle without the feature. They don't like to admit when they are wrong and they always pretend to know the answer.
I stopped by a random Jeep dealer to look at the JGC's.
I told them the Saddle Interior was being discontinued for 2014. They insisted I was wrong in an angry way. Why? Because they are car salesmen. It was clear I liked the interior and here was one that had it. But they said, don't buy this one there will be more????? I have only known a few car salesmen to be any good.

Another time at a Lincoln dealer, I said which cars can be flat towed behind a motorhome all four wheel down, he asked around, came back and said none. I said get me an owners manual, any car. I opened up the manual and showed him where it said they could. BTW only like 2 Lincolns can't be flat towed.

They would rather convince you their lie is the truth than sell you a car.

BTW did you ask why the $100 price change. Charge for the paper toner I assume to add the word "stop".

Also, they should be able to produce the build sheet on each vehicle. I don't know what codes to look for but someone around here does.

Re: Adaptive Cruise Control Stop-go

sales men are just that. They sell, they don't know everything and I would not expect them to know everything. If they did, they might not sell cars any more. Just like service guys. When you have a problem that has been going on for years, and you take yours in and tell them the issue, they have NEVER heard of anyone having that issue. It is just funny. They hate an educated consumer for sure.

Conflicted on this... I agree with you but also my favorite sales guy knows his $h1t and also knows it about other brands which is very helpful.

I don't expect them to know everything either. But I expect them to say that they don't know rather than insist that they know the answer and that they are correct. An even better way to approach it is to simply say, "Let me check on that."
