I like to drive most of the time too, but sometimes I don't. In fact, after getting spoiled with all the automation, I frequently catch myself getting annoyed that it won't steer for me!

I don't think ACC will bring you anywhere near to a complete stop, and it keeps a couple car lengths spacing from the car in front, so in near stop and go, there is plenty of opportunity to be cut off.

Re: Adaptive Cruise Package

The spacing is variable with something like three settings I believe, without looking at it again (wife is usually driving it). You set the distance you want to leave between you and the car ahead.

Re: Adaptive Cruise Package

Yes, a couple car lengths is the shortest distance.

My acc kicked off the other day as I hit stop and go traffic leaving a message in the evic that said something like "minimum speed." Otherwise its wonderful on the highway as you can never use normal cruise in crowded urban highway traffic.

I had heard that the ACC goes all the way down to zero. Is this not the case?

I'm not sure if it will take you all the way to 0, but when it gets to 15mph or so it starts beeping telling you to brake. I usually brake at that point.

Re: Adaptive Cruise Package

The ACC turns off when speed is lower than something around 20km/h. It will not stop the car completely, and it won't restart it. Of course that's not a limit of the technology, but just a choice in favour of safety. For the same reason, the ACC can only use 25% of braking power. Think about the several ways in which the ACC could become dangerous in case of malfunction, if it could stop the car completely with 100% brake power and restart it automatically.. The same system on other cars, like BMW, has been given more freedom, but I think Jeep wanted tombe on the safest side. So it is not definitely an auto pliot, it can look like that but only in some situations.
