Re: Adaptive headlights

Well user DriveDave in this thread has a '16 Summit, but he says he hasn't noticed them yet which is surprising considering he said he notices the auto leveling feature. IMO the adaptive feature is MUCH more noticeable than auto level. So either his adaptive feature is turned off, or it doesn't have it all together, or he just hasn't paid attention enough to notice it yet.
DriveDave, do us a favor and go into uconnect settings and ensure adaptive headlights are turned on (if it's even in there), and go take a stroll tonight and let us know. I don't really care either way, but the OP wants to know about what is and what isn't available on some of the '16 models.

Re: Adaptive headlights

Ok, I just did some quick research, and based on what I found, I'm going to say that the 2015 Summit has adaptive cornering headlights and the 2016 does NOT have it.

1. There is NO setting in my Uconnect for adaptive headlights, or corner technology or anything resembling such a feature.
2. The Jeep website clearly mentions adaptive headlights on multiple pages for the 2015, but nothing at all for the 2016 (both years are still view-able on their site).
3. The only mention I could find for the 2016 is in the large 2016 GC brochure in the Summit standard features list, it says Bi-xenon HID lights with cornering technology.

So my findings (which coincide with my night driving experience so far) are that the 2016 Summit definitely does NOT have adaptive (cornering) headlights.

Re: Adaptive headlights

If that's indeed the case, there are not many technical features left you can get on a Summit but not on a High Altitude.

The Summit is still exclusive when it comes to the headlight washers and the active noise canceling, but yeah not that many differences.

Re: Adaptive headlights

Milous just confirmed up above that the direction adaptive headlights are not appearing on the MY17 features list for Summit either, but he doesn't know why they were deleted.

I have headlight washers on my HA

The new M3 I drive around has adaptive headlights. It's pretty bad ass. Even sitting in park the slightest turn to the left and they move on the wall

Would love to retro those in to my 15 jeep

I think you can actually. I recall one guy on this forum wanted the black bezeled SRT lights, so he bought a set to install into his Limited and to his surprise the adaptive feature just worked all on its own. No trip to dealer or anything, and I don't even think the setting was in uconnect.
I do think its cool, but having owned both IMO its certainly not worth the cost of 2014/2015 Summit or SRT headlights...then ontop of that install which requires bumper removal.

Re: Adaptive headlights

Well if I were a person who just purchased a 2016 Summit, I'd be pissed off. If I had documentation that the Adaptive Headlights were supposed to be equipped on my vehicle, the FCA would be facing a legal fight to either financially compensate me for a feature they advertised but then failed to deliver, or purchase my vehicle back!

This smacks of pathetic cost cutting done with no real logic behind it.

I hope all of the automotive news & information outlets learn of this and advise potential shoppers accordingly!

Key word " were supposed to"

Unfortunately if the dealer literature and window sticker doesn't list it there is no pot to piss in. We rely on information we read from journalists and websites who have "sources" who are often misleading or wrong.

For reference the EVO 8 (2003-2005) had HID lights with fogs. My 2006 when I bought it did not. Had to buy the MR. It has projectors and I bought it in the day time. Never thought to ask if they wouldn't have it. Obviously I wasn't happy but I had no choice but to live with it.

This case is a bit different. After all, the official MY16 brochure currently available for download from jeep.com still shows it as feature.
