Printed literature (and website info) is not always accurate after it's printed or posted. Also, there's usually a disclaimer in there somewhere about the manufacturer reserving the right to change options and features without notice.

Re: Adaptive headlights

Obviously it's nothing more than a cost cutting strategy I would imagine. They probably did this is to cut down on the amount of different headlights they have to make for the different models. Prior to 2016 they had all these:
-Base halogen laredo/altitude/limited
-chrome HID LED limited/overland
-chrome HID LED adaptive Summit
-black HID LED High Altitude
-black HID LED adaptive SRT

So I'm not sure if the 2016 SRT lost adaptive as well, but if it did then FCA was able to trim out producing the two different expensive adaptive lights for Summit and SRT.

Re: Adaptive headlights

Wow, dumbest thing I've ever heard. My '07 BMW 3 series had adaptive headlights. Now a $50k+ jeep doesn't come with it when the 2 previous years did? Or the $75k model??

I agree. I'm not sure that this will save them that much money in the end - considering they might lose some sales to it.

Especially on the higher end models, customers are very sensitive to stuff like that. I know I am and I'm seriously looking at other brands now...

I would have expected the introduction of full LED headlights and instead, we are getting a downgrade...

I wouldn't be surprised if the new 2019 ends up having full LED headlights with adaptive turning.

Re: Adaptive headlights

I expect that Jeep parts counters will be busy selling 2015 Summit and SRT headlights.

Re: Adaptive headlights

Speaking of downgrades and cost savings on 2016 model., I saw another picture which caught my attention. Did they get rid of the rear seat "oh shit" handles on the headliner? I saw an interior picture of a 2016 and swear all I saw in that area was a tiny round light and nothing more. That's really weird because those are actually very useful especially for getting out of the tighter opening in the rear.
Can anyone confirm they did away with those?

front has oh shit handles, back the handles have moved to the upright between the front & back seats (so they are vertical).

Ahh ok cool thanks for the info. Maybe that location is more useful than them being on the headliner.
Since you have a 2016 maybe you can tell, are the rear map lights the same yellow LEDs they used in the fronts? or are they the standard 192 wedge bulbs in there? If they are the LEDs then thats gonna be a little more difficult for the 2016 guys to get rid of the old school yellowish interior lighting.

Re: Adaptive headlights

The rears are very small, round lights that you can push to turn on (about the size of a quarter). They look whiter than the front map lights and I'm pretty sure they're LED. I wouldn't call the front map lights yellow, but they're not as white as the dome lights right next to them. Normally I can tell LEDs quite easily, but I can't say for sure on the front domes or maps whether they're LED or incandescent. They seem to come on and off pretty quick, so I'm leaning towards LED, but can't be 100% sure.
