Re: Add "Trail Rated" Badge to GC Limited?

I'd say if Jeep doesn't consider your vehicle trail rated and you haven't modded it to make up for its stock shortcomings why bother adding it. You might as well put a HEMI badge on the V6.

I was supposed to receive a Laredo X with the outdoor adventure package. They didn't have it on the lot but added everything for cost (skid plates, tow hooks, badge, and a tow hitch with wiring). Trial rated should only include vehicles that can actually handle trials and I don't just mean your grassy back yard, which mans skid plates and the ability to pull yourself off or around obstacles.

To me the bigger deal with the ORA package is the limited slip diff. The front tow hooks can be added pretty easily, and the factory skid plates aren't exactly serious trail armor. Adding the "Trail Rated" badge just for show wouldn't necessarily be my thing, but I also wouldn't get down on the OP since for all we know the only thing that your truck may have that his doesn't is the skid plates. But I definitely agree with you that the badge should only be put on certain vehicles, not the "Trail Rated" Patriot I posted on page 1.

I completely agree about the patriot and that it should not be included in this class of vehicles.

The limited slip diff is part of the stock select terrain system I believe is it not?

And the stock skid plates is by no means real armor but for that entry level off roader that the trial rated concept targets it will keep them from completely tearing their undercarriage apart on the first rock or stump they come across.

Re: Add "Trail Rated" Badge to GC Limited?

I removed my "trail rated" badge. Just one look at my jeep and anyone who knows anything, knows its trail rated. I don't need a badge to tell the world that. Let your jeep do the talking and not a badge. Just my 2 cents.

No, you have to get the Off-Road Adventure II package (and the Hemi I believe) to get the LSD.

I say in my opinion if you add the equipment to be considered trail rated then add the badge I actually like it, or add the badge if you want, it's your jeep I wouldn't listen to other people who judge based on a badge. It's whatever makes you happy cause in the end it's your rig. Put what you think looks good

Crap I thought I had limited slip with select terrain I. I always had a z71 on my chevys and it came with LSD as part of the package.

LSD for the outdoor adventure package II and the leveling suspension for the level II trailering package are the two hardest things, expensive, unlikely things to add in after the fact. Bummer.

Just fyi, there's actually two badges that can be bought: Part numbers 55157317AB and 55157318AB.

The "8" is the one that's supposed to be used on the WK2. The lettering is a brushed chrome look . The "7" is the older one used on WKs and I think (but am not sure) still on some current models like, perhaps, the Liberty and/or Wrangler. It's a not-as-shiny brushed-aluminum look.

The "7" is much easier to find for sale. The "8", not so much, but not impossible to find.

OR1 also adds the Select Terrain system (the center console dial.)

Yeah, I bought a Laredo-X with OR1, but it didn't come with the badge (although it's even mentioned on the sticker).

I thought about bugging the dealer for a badge, or just buying one myself, but then never bothered since I do like the look better.

I've realized that mine is one of the few Laredos in the area that has an OR package it (learned that dealers never order them for inventory around here; they're always factory orders), so sometimes I want to add the badge to make mine seem more 'special' than all the other Laredos on the road although I usually don't really give a carp.
