Need to track down a HDMI to composite converter. HDMI to component is common but slightly illegal add the devices usually break HDCP compliance...

Hopefully you can find a HDMI to composite adapter... Or did you already find that?
The converter is HDMI input to Composite output. Hence, HDMI from Iphone to converter to RCA in on lockpick.

Excellent find then! I looked back at the Amazon link... When I selected other pics it shows composite to HDMI...

So looks like you are good to go. I would simply get one of those USB cigarette lighter plugs and gut it to work in your setup.

Another thought is to find the wires that go to the armrest USB and tap power from those....

I thought about that as well, but with data going through the cable I didn't want to risk it messing it up the data stream. Not to mention sorting through the mass of wires in the wiring harness to hope i got the right 5v one.

Plus this way I know that the power for it will turn off with ACC instead of being on all the time. I am not sure if the USB is IGN or ACC powered or whatever else.

Does anyone know the wire gauge of the two leads in the Cigarette adapter under the radio? I am going to use these Posi-Tap wire taps to get the power needed for the system.

Posi-Tap- No Crimp Tap

I installed this add-on yesterday. I was able to use AV auxiliary and from the lockpick to the HDMI converter. The DC 12 V to 5 V inverter worked perfectly with the posi-tap connectors. I ended up installing the HDMI converter in the center console cubicle below the climate controls For easy access if I ever wanted to add a different component media item. Looking back the cigarette lighter port right in that cubby would've been very easy to have added a quick low-profile USB port for the power Instead of tapping the lines and adding the inverter.

Overall I am very impressed with the whole set up. It is a workaround for the lockpick for right now until they are able to develop a new lockpicks that will support the digital output of the iPhone.

Yes as long as you have a Composite A/V Input, which it looks like you do, you can do this mod. All it does is mirror your iphone screen or present it just like any other HDMI out or airplay. If you don't want to do the power part of this mod just use a cig adaptor if you don't need the cig port for anything else.
