Nothing is itemized on my insurance either, but the GC insurance bill on the 2014 is about the same as it was on the 2004 Tahoe it replaced and the vehicle value is significantly greater.

Adaptive cruise control is fantastic. If you are doing a lot of hwy driving that feature alone is worth it.

Re: Advanced tech package

I'm assuming you can't add features of the advanced tech package after purchase? I'd love to have ACC for my highway driving.

Anything can be added, its more a matter of how much you are willing to spend. Trying to add all of the parts and software needed for the advanced tech package would get ridiculously expensive very fast. Be far cheaper to trade your jeep in one that already has it.

Re: Advanced tech package

just got '15 summit with all the tech stuff.

i have not noticed the collision mitigation work and although i've tentatively tried to put the vehicle in a situation that might trigger it, i don't want to try too hard and crash into something!

the adaptive cruise control is awesome. the other day i had set speed at 65 and it cruised toward the interstate entrance where there's traffic and the car slowed by itself, all the way to a stop and then resumed accelerating onto the on ramp and highway. never touched the gas once.

the blind spot monitoring is GREAT although the beep can be annoying, but i guess better an annoying beep than an accident!

WISH WISH it had lane warning AND lane assist... but oh well.

front/rear parking sensors are GREAT for the garage and parking spots as it the rear camera.

anyway, maybe you can tell i'm enjoying the car so far!

You can turn off the blind spot beeping in the uconnect.

IIRC, just fyi, the manual states that to deter "testing" the FCW, it is limited to 4 uses per ignition cycle.

IMO you csn not safey test the collision avoidance system. It brakes very late and hard when needed. Dont confuse the beeping and the mild brake shuttering warnings with actual braking it can do. After trying to warn you it will bake for you in an emergency stop situation to lessen or provent impact. But it needs to understand that your intention is to stop the jeep. If it beeps and brake shutters at you but you just stay on the gas then you will plow into the car in front of you. But as soon as you begin to brake and it senses you want to stop the jeep but are not doing enough for the situation it will compensate with additional braking for the situation. The coolision avoidance braking and ACC operate differently. ACC will always try to keep a set distance away from the car infront of you and will brake as much as it wants whenever it feels the need. I would seriously not try to test the collision avoidance, it is to lessen and hopefully prevent impact but you may end up in an accident trying to test it. One time in two years have i had it brake hard(not the mild shuttering warning) for me and it was a white knuckle oh shit moment you never want to be in but it worked.

Re: Advanced tech package

I'm traveling more right now and quite frankly, these warning features have saved my bacon several times this week, alone. There are too many folks "out there" who think nothing of swerving across multiple lanes at 20+ mph over the speed limit and there's just no human way to have two eyes "everywhere". Someone did this to me just below Baltimore on Tuesday when I was halfway moved over into the next lane adjacent to me on the left so I could pass slower traffic. I was making a safe and legal lane change, signaled well in advance, yet came within about two inches of a horrible collision when someone in a 'burner crossed over two lanes at about 90 mph (in a 55 zone where traffic was generally at about 65). My Jeep screamed loudly in time for me to correct in time to avoid getting killed. The FCW has done similar recently when someone stopped suddenly WITHOUT BRAKE LIGHTS just down the road from my house. I'll cheerfully take the occasional false alarm!

Re: Advanced tech package

Can one of you please check your Unconnect for a setting to raise and lower the rear Cross path detection alert. I had a software update done a few months ago and now the audible alert is low. I know there was a setting in there before the update and the manual also states that you are able to set it to high or low. Dealer is telling me maybe they took out that option with the update.

Re: Advanced tech package

I have not ordered my GC yet, but I'm glad the Advanced Tech Group is optional (on Limited). I don't want to pay $2K for something a competent driver should be doing anyway - paying attention. The rental cars I've had with these nannies drove me nuts, way too many worthless false, annoying beeps. Save two grand and pay attention instead. My 2 cants.
