I dont have to explain anything. ..especially when you're rude. I like it....I use the options...and I think they are good....especially the adaptive cruise and lane change. Good enough?

When I was looking at getting an Overland, I didn't want the ACC package, but every single one in stock had it and all incoming orders had it. I went ahead and bought one with ACC. During normal every day driving, I don't use it. But damn, on our road trips, I simply love it. I will always check that box if its available on future vehicle purchases.

Re: ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY GROUP (ADG) any reason to get it? Lower insurance rate?

Besides, if you don't like the $1500 cost, consider this:

What fender-bender, however minor, is going to cost less than $1500? (between deductibles, lost re-sale value, etc)

If this saves you one single size-swipe, or one fender-bender, over the course of your entire ownership, it's more than paid for itself. Don't think, just do!

Re: ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY GROUP (ADG) any reason to get it? Lower insurance rate?

Never had a vehicle with it, but I always use cruise control for any long distance driving on the highway. After test driving and trying it for that limited time I knew I had to have it. For me, the price is well worth the money to have the indicators alert me and save me and my family from a accident than to just rely on taking a chance anytime I need to look away for a slight second or change lanes when I'm 99% sure I'm clear.

Re: ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY GROUP (ADG) any reason to get it? Lower insurance rate?

I thought about it long and hard - because for me to get it, means upgrading with both the Luxury and the Technology packages. But the car is gonna be driven mainly by my wife and I know how proficient she is. If it were my car, NO but for the lady...I feel it is a necessity. As someone above said - if it prevents one accident, then it paid for itself.

Re: ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY GROUP (ADG) any reason to get it? Lower insurance rate?

The blind spot monitoring is something I wish I had. As someone else mentioned, the WK2 has wide pillars and creates more blind spots that the WK1 never had. If I hadst bought completely on aesthetics and had dove into the Limited or Overland a little more its an option I wish I had gotten. Until I can make my freakin mind up about whether I want to trade for a Overland with Indigo (again aesthetics) lol I'll love my current Jeep for what it is, and its a great vehicle. Just don't short change yourself on options.

My guess is that it will be standard on the Overland soon and they'll roll the cost into the base MSRP.

Re: ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY GROUP (ADG) any reason to get it? Lower insurance rate?

My opinion?

The adaptive cruise is the shit. It's so nice that I have to constantly remind myself that it's not in my Accord... lol It will slow down when approaching a slower car ahead. Then when I use the left turn signal, that makes it accel immediately.

The blind spot detection like someone else said is a godsend... In the past to change lanes, I would:

1.) Check mirror
2.) Twist my head around and look at the blind spot for a split second.
3.) Go back to looking straight ahead and think about what I saw
4.) Twist my head around one more time and hit the turn signal
5.) Change lanes if clear

Now I do this:

1.) Check mirror and then focus on the triangle for a split second.
*If it's orange, I go back to driving
*If it's not lit up, I go to #2
2.) Twist head around and check blind spot for a split second
3.) Go back to looking straight ahead and think about what I saw
4.) Twist my head around one more time and hit the turn signal
5.) Change lanes if clear

Now I still do the same thing with the addition of checking the indicator light. It's really nice in traffic because if it's lit, I can immediately look straight ahead if the indicator is lit and not bother looking at my blind spot. It saves me those precious seconds.

The cross path detection is a nice feature as well. I don't rely on it at all, but unfortunately it has saved me on a couple occasions. Both when merging onto a highway. Both times traffic in front of me slowed down too. I was paying attention to the traffic I was merging into that split second, the Jeep alerted me on the slower traffic in front of me, I looked and reacted. End of story. Honestly, merging onto a highway can be taxing on your awareness sometimes and this one little feature is one of those that I forget I have it until i need it.

In the end, $1500 is nothing compared to the price tag on my Jeep. Whether you like it or not, technology is happening right now. You would be ignorant to think that we will be "driving" cars forever. One day, cars will drive themselves and will be more efficient and safer in making decisions than the human brain.

A lot of people do not like these features because they have not learned to properly use them. They discard them immediately because they get upset that the features aren't working the way they want them too. It's the same with new technology, most hate it until they are forced to learn and use it.

Re: ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY GROUP (ADG) any reason to get it? Lower insurance rate?

Does ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY have an effect on Auto Insurance? You bet it does. I was paying $2,800 a year for Insurance. I went over all of safety options I have on the Summit. The summit has every option.
Now I only pay $1,400 a year! I will most likely keep my Jeep for five years. That’s $7,000 I save over the next five years. If that’s not worth it I don’t know what is

Re: ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY GROUP (ADG) any reason to get it? Lower insurance rate?

Absolutely get it. The new Overlands just aren't complete without those features. Not only that, but even some cheaper cars are getting these features now. It's also better for resale, for example if I were buying used I wouldn't even consider buy one that was not fully equipped. If I see one without it, it just seems like a more base model vehicle. You would expect a Laredo to not have that stuff, but in today's world you would just think an Overland would have that kind of stuff. It's a cheap package anyway only $1500. Worked into a loan you wouldn't even notice the difference. Or if you pay cash after taking out 40 + grand from your account what's another $1500? Do it!!!! All those features are amazing! I would be willing to bet that most guys on this forum that claim to hate that stuff are somewhat older guys that hate learning new technology. It's a common phenomenon ;-)

Does your policy specifically show what you are saving on each of these features? If not, I have a feeling if you go over the breakdown with your agent there is something else responsible for all or most of your savings.

If you get a chance, would you check it out and let us know?

Like bill mentioned, can you verify and see if they state these options in your discount? I would love to take that to my current provider when we go to add our Overland to our policy and save because of this feature. Currently they only discount the alarm, garage parking, and tinted windows, but if they look at the advance safety features, that alone is enough to justify the added cost.
