Affiliate Pricing (FFP) - DENIED!

So, I thought I'd contact a few Jeep dealers with Summits in transit. Note, these are dealer orders, not sold customer orders. Here is what one wrote back...and they have two Summits just like I want in transit:

"On an incoming order, yes, we would honor the Jeep FFP pricing, however on a vehicle of this caliber and limited availability, we do not honor the Jeep FFP."

I had another dealer confirm a dealer order, unsold, in transit Summit also deny FFP for it but would accept FFP for others....

Speaking of which, I thought Jeep would nab dealer orders to fulfill sold customer orders....what happened?

I guess you're part of the family or circle of friends unless a Dealer says you're not good enough.... LOL Ostracized from the Jeep family... LOL No soup for you!

I would suggest complaining to Chrysler. They will give you a " we can't conrol what independent dealers do" but at least it gives the dealer a ding. Bottom line...support the good dealers, starve the bad. Karma has it's own way of biting the behinds of those who mess with it.

since FFP is only good on eligible vehicles, i guess the summit is not an eligible vehicle

The Summit is an eligible vehicle...I like others have ordered the Summit under the affiliate program.

Keep asking others. I had two dealers refuse TL for my Summit and two very happy to take TL.

Re: Affiliate Pricing (FFP) - DENIED!

I think the same think happened to me today. I went into dealer this morning to order an Overland and they said they couldn't order one now. I think it was because of FFP. They are getting MSRP for them around here these days. First time I have ever walked into a dealership with a checkbook and been denied. Oh well off to find another dealership.

Re: Affiliate Pricing (FFP) - DENIED!

What I don't full understand is that I was under the impression that Jeep routed dealer stock orders to the customers sold orders. There was even a post regarding dealer(s) who got in trouble trying to get stock by submitting false customer sold orders.

These Summits just went into transit very recently...they didn't get routed to customer sold orders since I contacted some of these dealers and they say these are not sold.

Re: Affiliate Pricing (FFP) - DENIED!

Allocation is a black art, many claim to know how it works but I suspect there are only a few people in the bowels of the IT department that really know for sure. As I understand it, although sold orders take precedence some dealer stock orders are mixed in for dealers with allocation, large volume and pictures of someone at Jeep in a compromising position

Seriously though, there were some dealers how put in stock orders for summits long before they knew the details and those dealers got some of the first build batch. I think that's what you are seeing here.

Re: Affiliate Pricing (FFP) - DENIED!

Dealers can not refuse affiliate pricing on a particular Jeep if they are part of the program. My dealer tried to do that on the Overland. I called Chyrsler Affiliates while in their dealership, and I had them talk to the owner of the dealership. He dissapeared for a while to read the rules, and then came back and gave me the deal. Definitely let Chrysler affiliates know if the dealership is breaking the rules.

Good for you but that begs the question, is this really the way you want to start out a business relationship? I suppose a lot depends on whether you plan on building a relationship with the dealer or just walking out with a car/truck and hoping you never need to "call in a favor" if it needs special service? Based on what I'm reading I would much rather have a dealer who wanted to do business with me than one who was forced to if/when I need their help with a "shutter" or "HVAC" or "WIN" module issues.

I only ran into one dealer that was iffy on the Affiliate program on an ordered Overland in my area, mostly because they wanted to charge me the standard $599 dealer fee on top of the price and wouldn't budge. The other 3 I spoke with were eager to get my business regardless the program I used.

I did have a "moment" with the finance manager where I'm buying mine. He's working up the paperwork and added the dealer's $599 dealer fee (see my other posts about dealer fees in FL, it's an eye opener). I told him that wasn't allowed under the Affiliate program and his reply was, and I quote, "We don't charge it on Employee deals but we always do on Friends and Family deals". I politely informed him that the restrictions on "Dealer Fees" are the same on both plans AND that I had asked the GM and owner about the fees before ordering the vehicle and they said they don't charge it (meaning in FL they reduce the vehicle price by their standard dealer fee then add it back to get you to you proper net price). He said it was their dealerships and obviously they can do whatever they want. When he called me back to go over the numbers he said they confirmed, NO DEALER FEES.

This gave me a little pause because it's obvious they have charged other affiliate program users this fee and they never pushed back. I guess even the best dealers are allowed to be a little "scummy" on occasion.

Nice job, mjw930. Let them take advantage of someone else. They know that for every uber-informed buyer there are many more who will bend over. Shame that buying a vehicle has to be this way.
