After two TSBs today, I now love my Grand Cherokee

Today I had the transmission and other updates TSB 18-035-11, and the hands free TSB 08-036-11 put on my Jeep.

The transmission update makes it feel like a completely different car, it's now very responsive and seems to do a great job with gear selection no matter what speed you are doing. In my opinion they really breathed some new life into the 545RFE. I no longer have the "Clunk" sound/feel at 40MPH, or anywhere else for that matter, and I definitely notice somewhat of a performance boost. In my opinion five gears is more than enough, heck in the 60's even four was plenty.

I have always loved the GPS in my 430N. My only two complaints were with hardwired iPhones having errors, and wireless bluetooth streaming being choppy when the screen is on. This new update fixed the wireless streaming issue completely, and when combined with ios 5 beta 3 (which was released today), the hard wired iPhone problem is now completely resolved.

This is now the first car (including my 2010 Audi A4) where stereo bluetooth works perfectly, along with wired connectivity for iPhones. When you combine that with the friendly Garmin based GPS, I'm thrilled to have the 430N (RHB). It's feature packed (with TravelLink), and basically does everything I need it to do perfectly.

Anyway, I'm now very happy with my Jeep. It's nice to see Jeep actually rolling our updates like this. This is the first car I have owned where the manufacturer actually has done more than just talk about releasing updates like this.

I also had the two TSBs done today and can report drastic improvements.

Shifting is much smoother. Feels fantastic.

iPhone streaming is flawless. As soon as ios 5 is released, the Jeep will be perfect. I couldn't be happier.

Agreed! I went in July 1st.. Got the "there is no current update for your vehicle" even though the TSB came out on the 30th of June. Went back today for the brake light on the dash issue for the 10x time, and asked for them to check for any available updates. Low and behold they did the 18-035-11 TSB update for drive-ability... hmmm lol If only they would of did it the first time but maybe there computers werent updated yet who knows... At least this time they also FINALLY found a code for this brake light indicator and are replacing the Brake Booster check value, whatever that is.. Hope it fixes the problem once they get it in.

Hey Guys,

Just so I understand you all correctly you are referring to 2 updates for the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee ( one being for the radio-bluetooth and the other for the transmission? Have any of you who have had the updates performed noticed any improvement in gas mileage?

Thanks,

Ive got the 431 (RB2) media centre in my Australian GC. Ive tried doing some research on the media centre and had no luck.

Im wondering if the 430 (RBZ) is the US equivalent to my model of media centre?

Also I have the bluetooth streaming issues so would the TSB 18-036-11 work on my model?

Just got the jeep back from the stealership. Got the iphone tsb and PCM tsb. Iphone 4 works like a champ -- both bluetooth streaming and via the usb dock connector. I have to say though that the sound quality is horrendous over bluetooth. But im happy it works with the dock connector now. No album art, but i get the track info etc.

My dealer just told me that the 18-036-11 TSB is not available yet. He says he knows about it but it has not been released????

He is aware of the 18-035-11 and will take care of it anytime. Probably won't take it in until he can do both on one visit.

No. You are only notified about recalls and that would come directly from Chrysler. Service bulletins are meant to inform the dealer about fixes for complaints consumers may mention when they bring in the car for service. In the internet age the service bulletins are available online and we discuss them here and on other forums.

My WK2 does not exhibit any symptoms for any of the current TSBs. I doubt the dealer would apply them since I don't seem to have the problems described in the TSBs. On my previous cars dealers would sometimes inform me of an applicable TSB when I was there for service.
