Aftermarket HID kit problem! 2014 JGC Limited

Has anyone experienced any problems with aftermarket HID's for the 2014 JGC? I got mine installed at my buddies shop and it worked fine for a couple weeks then the driver side light went out. Brought it back to the shop and they said the ballast blew so they put in a new one, worked fine. After a couple weeks, bam both of them stopped working. Brought it back to my buddies shop AGAIN and they put in a whole new kit...which by the way was a can-bus kit with a relay from the beginning. So after a few more weeks the passenger side light went out, by this time im frustrated cause its a pain in the a$$!!!! Anyways, talked to my buddies at the shop and they said they are not dealing with that manufacturer anymore because of all these problems with my HID kit. So now they are going through an eastcoast manufacturer for the kit which should work because they have a mopar set up HID kit for the 2014 JGC....but im very doubtful it will work after all the issues i went through from the beginning. I could use some suggestions if anyone has any.

I've also been reading up on some forums with the issue and ppl are saying its cause of the DRL's and i should shut it off through the uconnect system. So i go to the uconnect system in settings then lighting but my jeep doesnt have an option to turn off DRL's...is this option only in the states? I know DRL's are mandatory in Canada so im guessing the JGC in the states you have an option to turn you DRL's off. So if anyone has a solution to this problem can you please let me know if there is a way to get it working properly.

I was going to suggest canbus HIDS, but since that is what you are using, it sounds like your problem was the HID manufacture.

Are you sure they are true "canbus" ballest? Do they have the cancelers on the incoming connection? If not the start up signal could kill the HID bulbs very quickly.

I ask because I have canbus HIDs in my fogs and use them all the time, and they spent a year in my previous vehicle, absolutely no problems. If it were some sort of short or power surge, your stock bulbs would not have lasted.

Good luck man, keep us posted.

Thanks for the respond JonniMR. Yes it is true canbus ballast and it had the cancelers as well. I have the canbus for my fogs and they work perfect, its just with the headlights for some reason. I also had the same kit for my 2007 jeep and worked fine, its just with the 2014 jeep its been having problems.

I'll most likely try this new manufacturer and hopefully it will work, if not then im just gonna go back to halogens and just get brighter bulbs. Should of opt to add the LED HID option to avoid these problems.

Drinking while pregnant could also lead to birth defects. Better safe than sorry. I respect a company that warns up front rather than an oh well approach after the fact.
