All Weather Capability Group....special order

Not sure if this is the place to post, but I already introduced myself in the new members area. I ordered my 2014 Grand Cherokee Laredo a couple of weeks ago. I got the email last week with my VIN and notifying me that it has been scheduled for production.....and now I wait.

A bunch of people have asked me why I had to order a JGC when they seem to have a ton of them at local dealers (I live just outside of Boston, MA). However, when I went to buy one, I wanted the Laredo with either the Off-Road or All Weather Capability packages and some other stuff. There was not a single JGC available in within 200 miles that had one of those packages so my dealer had no viable options.

Anyone else have these packages? Is this common?

I found 1 out of 100s of new 2014 Laredo's around Omaha just searching dealer websites. I think it's a great option and you made the right choice.

Mine came with All Weather Capability. I really wanted ORAI because of the skid plates, but wifey is happy for the heated seats. I would say maybe it's your area. There are quite a few available with those packages here in Colorado.

I may have to post this separately, but does anyone know how accurate and how frequently updated the Jeep VOTS system is for ordered vehicles? Mine says its scheduled at the moment, but that hasn't changed in a while and Im anxiously awaiting progress.

Re: All Weather Capability Group....special order

I live in the Boston area as well. I went with the Limited model, which has heated seats (front and rear), heated steering wheel, etc. I think the only things that are missing on the Limited, from the All Weather group for the Loredo, are the engine heater, tow hooks, and slush mats.

Yes, but it also comes with things I didn't want... I wont buy leather seats unless they are ventilated (I was spoiled by my 2012 Kia Optima SX) and couldn't justify spending the $4000 on the Luxury II package. I really didn't want leather this time anyway since we have a puppy who scratches EVERYTHING. Also, esthetically, my preference is to have as little chrome as possible. I did not like that Chrome mirrors were included on all models other than the Laredo.
My dealer made me a great offer initially to buy a Limited and an even better deal on the Lux package one, but ended up matching the discount and ordering me my Laredo so I was pretty happy.

Re: All Weather Capability Group....special order

I have the AWG but on a 2012. It is not very common from what I'm seeing and I'm encountering an issue with a TSB because of my vehicle configuration. It is kind of a nice in-between if you don't want the extras that come with the specific trims.

When I was shopping around, one of the feature I really wanted was remote start but I have to get a Laredo X for that but I happened to see one on the lot with AWG and went for it!

Re: All Weather Capability Group....special order

My wife and I had the first one on here with that package, VOTS is updated once every morning to answer that question. We ordered hers on January 21st (I think) and it got delivered on the 1st of April. They build these Jeeps in groups, they have to have so many with a certain option package and they will build a run of them. You are in that step, waiting for others like yours. I am almost positive that my wife's was in the very first run of them too, because you did not find another with the all weather group in the country until after we bought hers, believe me I tried. I even tried talking her into a 2013 overland but she wasn't having it. The wait seems to take forever but hopefully it will be worth it for you, when hers is out of the shop she loves the thing.
