Almost today

Almost today
Run up the back of a caravan.
After traveling at a 110km/h for 100km.
Came up behind a caravan slowing for a T junction.
ACC slowed me don nicely, then i started to brake lazily had only my big toe of my work boot on the brake.
Almost stopped 6' from the van then pressed a little harder to hold my jeep there.
And my foot slipped of hitting the accelerator (gas) engine revved like crazy, I held on waiting for the bang. NOTHING Jeep did not move, got my foot back on the brake, check my pants all OK heart pounding. Thinking what just happened, something beep and flashed on the EVIC did not see it. Did the collision avoidance kick in. "Enhanced Accident Response System (EARS)" "Forward Collision Warning (FCW)"

any way something disengaged that transmission and let the engine rev around 4000rpm, and saved me. Love my jeep.

Don't drive tyred,
Don't be complacent.

Re: Almost today

I did not think this was needed or desired until seeing all my JG brother's hugely positive reviews of this system.

Glad you avoided the hit DH.

Thanks mate, nether thought I would need it.
Always thought I was such a good alert driver. NOT.

After 15 years driving road trains (135t, 3 trailer trucks) never thought I would be the one to do something so stupid.

Re: Almost today

Damn, that's incredible! I've let it go on autopilot to within a half car length or so of impact, and it pretty obviously was going to stop before rear ending the unwitting guinea pig in front of me. So in an abundance of caution I manually braked when it screeched and hollered at perhaps 10 MPH.

But jamming the throttle just then, and it stops anyway? Wow!

Carefull dont think it will actualy stop.
My ACC cuts out at 20km/h and stops braking. I have seen this several times.
But I dont know if it cuts power to the trans!

Thanks. Glad I chickened out!

No idea about the trans, tho. Seems like a signal was sent to put it into neutral.
