Altitude off road capabilities

I am thinking of pulling the trigger on a 2015 Altitude but would like to get some input on the off road capabilities.

This is a total newbie question but does the Altitude have 4x4 low?

Any owners out there that have an opinion?

Thanks,

Joey D.

Joey,
As far as I know an Altitude has basically the same mechanical specs as mine...only cosmetics change ?...I think so.
Now answering your question, check my posts, I believe they speak for themselves:

Per the answer on the other forum, no, the Altitude does not have 4-Low. It's not really marketed for off-road. If you want the greater transmission/drivetrain capability for off-road use, you'll be better served by a Laredo-E or Limited trim while staying somewhere in the same price range as the Altitude. Altitude is pretty limited with regard to features and you cannot "option it up" to include the stuff commonly desired for off-road use.

Sorry...didnt know there was a Grand Cherokee without the 4-Low option, I thought that was standard on all of them.
Joey...forget the Altitude..get a Limited !.

Re: Altitude off road capabilities

Laredo's start with the base drive-train and the Altitude is a Laredo "package"...some popular features at an attractive price point, especially given a meaningful percentage of buyers never go "off road" and like the idea of a specially named version with some creature comforts. But Altitude is largely a "this is how it comes" type package with only a very few options that include the backup camera/audio upgrade, a (required) sunroof and a tow package. Not much more.

Re: Altitude off road capabilities

I just bought an Altitude (2014) and I gotta say I love it. It does not have a 4 low or select track 4x4 system. It does have the basic QT1 all wheel drive which is a good system. I had a 97 grand cherokee and tell ya the truth,, never had it in 4 low,, ever. I live in chicago where the winters are harsh and snow really sucks.. 4 high did the job. I understand where your coming from cause I had the bad feeling right as I left the lot about the 4x4 system in the altitude. Unless your going to do some serious off roading, this jeep will be just fine.. ITS A JEEP!!
