Re: Altitude or Limited?

Well... as an update, I checked in on the trim levels and liked them both. Unfortunately, the dealers are only able to find ONE Limited with the options I'm looking for (Hemi, Luxury Group II, Trailer Tow IV, 20" wheel group) in either Mineral Grey or Bright Silver. With the discounts they're offering on the 2012's right now, I'd rather not build a 2013 and pay the extra cash.

There are a few Altitudes available with the Hemi, Laredo Group E, Trailer Tow IV, Panoramic Sunroof, and the 430N radio.

So... the Altitude is less expensive and as far as I can tell, the only things I'd be missing from the limited are the perforated/cooled seats, power liftgate, power tilt/steering column, and HID headlights.

Decisions, Decisions.

If anyone sees any obvious differences that I left out, please let me know

Re: Altitude or Limited?

I just traded my 2011 limited for a 2012 altitude in stone white. I love the look on the altitude. Too much chrome on the limited. I did lose a few things on the altitude that my limited had though. There are no memory seats which sucks since
My wife and myself alternate vehicles. No rain sensing wipers and the mirrors don't tilt down when in reverse to help with parallel parking.

Re: Altitude or Limited?

The things I missed out when choosing the Altitude over the Limited were basically the cooled seats. Test drove a Taurus SHO a couple of years ago and loved the cooled seats when it was 100F out. I would also like the the mirrors to rotate down when parking (I wondered if that was an option).

I like HID's, but I also dislike chrome, so for me the black bezels outweigh the HID's.

I considered making the Altitude upgrades myself, but to have true OEM upgrades is not cheap (grill, rear brow, side moldings removed, etc.) and it would have required more time to get all of that completed. Even to plastidip the grill (I'd actually prefer flat black over glossy), you have to take the front bumper off, etc.

20's on Altitude > 18's on Limited (as far as looks). Yes, you can upgrade to the 20" wheel package for extra $ on the Limited.

I didn't want a sunroof as I had one in my Audi and literally used it maybe 3x in 5 years. Limited comes standard with that, I believe.

I also like the 430N vs the 730N (as compared to my friend who has an '11 Limited). This could be considered a wash, as I've only played around with his a few times.

Some of the other things, like power telescoping wheel - how often do you change the setting of your steering wheel? I guess I can understand the memory seats option if having multiple drivers, but again... its not that difficult to push the button.

I'll end on this note... my buddy with this Limited is jealous of my Altitude. And I get looks all the time in my Altitude when driving around - it just looks menacing.

Re: Altitude or Limited?

Power liftgate is available on the altitude, just ordered a 2013 because I could not find the one I wanted in stock.

Re: Altitude or Limited?

Just step up to the limited that way you get more standard features, beside you can alway black it out to your liking.

Re: Altitude or Limited?

Well, I couldn't find a 2012 Limited within budget, so I've decided to pick up a Mineral Gray Altitude. I like the black wheels, and eventually I may actually color match all of the blacked out stuff (grill, rear plate, etc) anyways. I figure, I've been reading that people have a hard time getting the chrome painted, but if it's already black it should be no problem to paint Mineral Gray

The dealer has to trade for it, so it's not a done deal yet, but I should find out today. There are 2 potential vehicles available. Both are Altitude, Min. Gray, Hemi, Tow Group IV, E Group, 430N. One has the panoramic sunroof (42,800 MSRP), while the other has a standard sunroof + power liftgate (42,895 MSRP). So they're basically the same price. I'm waiting to hear if both are still available, then I'll make a decision. I was like turbospartan with my other cars, if it had a sunroof, I only used it a handful of times. That being said, I may opt for the power liftgate, just 'cause it cool

Re: Altitude or Limited?

Picked it up last night, and so far in the entire 20 miles I've driven it, I like it so far I do miss riding higher in my Ram 1500 though, but I'll get used to it.
