Original post deleted since it became less about my new found love for the 14 JGC Summit and more about my financial means.

Re: Am I an IDIOT for purchasing a 14 JGC Summit??

Welcome to the family! Every vehicle has its issues and even the most praised vehicles can be finicky. It's up to the dealer and manufacturer to step up to the plate to resolve them if/when they occur. Find an awesome dealer and stick with them.

And, I'll state this having owned and obsessed over German vehicles for a decade, quality control is best described as "same as just about every other manufacturer on Earth"

Marketing is a wonderful thing

(I still do own one German vehicle...)

And yeah, that UConnect site needs some work. The people who run it should be flogged

Re: Am I an IDIOT for purchasing a 14 JGC Summit??

Well, by definition, if you are a Jeep owner, you ARE an idiot.
But please wear the designation proudly until you understand the motto
"Its a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand"

BTW, one area the Jeep is better at than the bimmer is wheels.
According to reports in Autoweek, etc. the wheels on bimmers are made of
metal just a bit more solid than silly putty. Don't know if this is the
germans way of encouraging drivers to keep from testing them on curbs, etc. or not.

Re: Am I an IDIOT for purchasing a 14 JGC Summit??

Tip: Cough up a few bucks for a premium membership and you can download the changelist, install instructions, and UConnect updates from the VIP section:
http://www.jeepgarage.org/f219/

No stupid download manager needed, as most browsers come with better ones.

And, you get the tips, comments, etc. from folks who have installed it to see if you really care or not.

Current release is UConnect 13.38.52 which you can check by going to apps settings system info on your radio.

Well, give them a break, they are all sleepless from having also been helping at healthcare.gov.

Ooops, did I say that?

I was the same way this will be my first ever Domestic car.. For the past 10 years if it didn't say BMW or Mercedes Benz on it there was no way I was gonna buy it. I was looking for an SUV wanted the X5M (red) or X6M(red) or ML63(black and paint it red) (any used not ballin yet to buy new). But for the price of a 2010 in any of these I could get a brand new 2014 Jeep SRT in Red. So I went for it. Still waiting for my order but I think I will Love it.. (Still had to keep a German so got my wife to buy a BMW. Lol)

That was my initial plan but now I think I'm gonna cool my heels on German vehicles for awhile. Like I said great cars, but horrible customer service AFTER the sale.

Since I plan to stick around here for awhile perhaps I will.

After switching to Safari I finally got the file downloaded on a thumb drive. However the vehicle didn't recognize a thumb drive was inserted so perhaps it's too picky.
