Re: An SRT horror story...

The Grand Cherokee absolutely DOES warn you of obstacles on the side. Atleast those with cross path detection and I believe all SRT's have that feature. Infact when I back out of my garage it beeps and shows me visually on the evic that the side of the garage door opening is there all the way till it passes my rear wheels. So with the backup cam, rear park sensors, and cross path detection he must have been totally into something else because my Jeep warns the shit out of me that something's there lol. Unless ofcourse he had those features turned off in the evic. Either way that sucks that a brand new SRT got crunched and now has to get fixed and repainted and stuff.

He hit the pole on the DRIVERS DOOR while he was turning. No sensors on the drivers door. Cross traffic depends on motion...a poie doesn't move. I'm sure he saw it as he started to back up...he just thought he was clear.

I personally find the backup sensors in the Jeep pretty useless. They go off way too early, so its really easy to just tune them out as background noise, and the way the beeps work make it hard to tell just from the sound how close you are to something. I find the backup camera way more useful. If I wasn't used to the Lexus' sensor system I might think differently, but that system is much better.

Re: An SRT horror story...

I'm thinking he saw the pole when initially backing up and then somehow got a bit distracted with all the other obstacles (other car, possible traffic, vacuum station, etc.) and just forgot the pole was there once it was to the side of his vehicle then he turned the wheel just a bit too much and crunch...

I usually don't like red but I did like this shade of red...it looked awesome even on the pole!
