I...I have to share this.
Back In The Day, I had my truck stolen. Thankfully, I had a motorcycle and wasn't instantly stranded.
When it came time to get a replacement, I wasn't really ready for anything, so I had a friend (car guy, haggler, wheeler dealer) get me a car. And he got me a 1975 BMW 2002. $1500. It had...issues.
One day, I drove home, and back the car in the garage. It was making all sorts of banging sounds and there was smoke and I had no idea what was going on.
No worries, took my bike in to work the next day, dragged my Mechanical Friend home to look at the car. He looked it over, and couldn't find anything.
So, I drove back in the work the next day. Bang, clang, smoke. Pulled my friend to the parking lot, and he looked at it. At one point we opened the radiator. "Hellooo in there!...in there...there..."
Radiator was bone dry.
At lunch, we bought a bottle of anti-freeze, poured it in and... it dumped straight out on the ground. We could just watch it bleed out, a nice green stream. Freeze plug in the water pump corroded out we think. "You need a water pump!" "Oh, ok!"
So, I drove it home, more bang, more clang, more smoke. Parked it, bought a water pump, installed it, and bought an Explorer that weekend
I have no idea where it vented its fury on to the ground initially.
The car was fine. We didn't really hurt anything. Sold it to another friend, he loved it.
So, anyway, on topic, water pump or hose. I don't recommend you drive it to the dealer, however
