Re: Annoying doors

All of mine close quite easily. On the other hand, "that" spot in the driver's door hinge annoys me sometimes. Open door far enough to reach in and grab something the next thing you know, you are a victim of the WK2 attack door.

Re: Annoying doors

My wife has the same complaint, she always misses closing the door all the way on the first shot. This is compared with her Jetta which has pretty solid doors as well, but they close with a much lighter touch.

Had my GC at the dealer for some paint touch up and the body shop manager agreed, she said especially with the windows up. Maybe the GC interior is so well sealed and insulated that it makes the doors harder to close?

Either way, I'm content; the advantages of the almost 90 degree door opening, quietness of the cabin, etc outweigh the fact that the doors are harder to close.

Re: Annoying doors

Same here with my 2012 Overland my wife NEVER closes the door on the first time and I do it on occasion. As far as the doors swinging back its not a big issue with my since my previous car (2007 acura TL type s), had a similar closer that throws the door back. It was actually called the auto close feature. All you had to do was pull the door just a hair and it will fully close on its own. The Jeep doesnt do that, but there were a lot of threads on the Acura forums about how people hated the doors. Lots of guys even swapped the closers out for the ones on the Accord which did not auto close.

Re: Annoying doors

My only complaint is the stop on the front passenger and driver side doors makes it difficult to shut. I have to lean out from the seat almost to the point of falling off the seat.
I am 5' 10'' with and average wing span. My 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Edition is the first SUV that I have owned with this issue. From reading some of the posts on this thread the problem seams to have continued over to the 2012 edition. I have had no problems related to closing and latching

Re: Annoying doors

Some of the (minimal) effort involved with closing the doors is due to the airtight design of the vehicle to keep the noise level down while driving. With all the windows closed it is more difficult to fully close the doors than it is with a window open. Try cracking a window and close a door. You will notice that it closes with much less effort.

Re: Annoying doors

I will get used to the slamming of the doors. It's the all or nothing door opening that is a True PIA... Especially with little ones

Re: Annoying doors

Never had an issue or a concern about the doors... Don't really seem different than my 2006 GC. I'll take a look next time I drive it...perhaps my upper saddle trim makes all the difference??? LOL
