Annoying "howling/whistling" sound when shifting into Drive

Here's a new sound that I started to notice a couple weeks ago, it's hard to describe, a sort of "whistling/howling" after the shifter has been shifted into the "Drive" position. I also notice it right upon accelerating from a complete stop. Turn your speakers up and listen for it closely, it's hard to pinpoint where it's coming from, but it's definitely a lot more audible than what I could capture with my iPhone. What could it be? 2013 Laredo 4x4 that just rolled over 10k

Re: Annoying "howling/whistling" sound when shifting into Drive

Well guys, I finally took it in to my dealership to have a listen (and an oil change, and a couple other minor annoyances (console squeeking)). The transmission tech came over, heard it, and said "This is going to be fun". The dealer had to send a report to Chrysler because they have never heard this noise before. I received a phone call from the dealer saying that Chrysler got back to them and said they have heard of this occurrence before, they said to go ahead and replace the valve body. Well I'm not too thrilled about it, especially at 13K. It's a good dealership, but I'm always hesitant about breaking open factory sealed internals like this. Is it worth asking for any kind of extended warranty? I know a few people have had some serious transmission issues here with both the old 5 speed and the 8 speed, how did you go about dealing with it? Just hope for the best?
