WHY?! that's like some people get diesel truck, tune to run a 1/4 mile... what's wrong? well your truck/money but if I buy a truck I want to utilize its payload capacity not trying to make a 2 ton truck be a sports car... Sorry guys, for my money and frankly if SRT8 price would equal to my hemi overland i am still going for Overland... don't get me wrong, I buy stuff on a fly with my desire, not simple logic. However I find very hard to justify SRT8 jeep... want quick car get M5/ MB AMG/Viper/Z06/ V-series caddy and you will be much quicker.
I bought jeep as compromise to tow and be somewhat in comfort/manuverability vs a 3/4 ton truck. But heck, if you really think SRT8 is for you- great! and I wish you enjoy it to the fullest!

Because it is not solely based on acceleration and performance. It is also on utility. The SRT8 omits the off-road capability but retains the utility for towing, snow/ice traction and interior cargo. The direct competition is the BMW X5M, Cayenne and perhaps the CTS-V wagon.

While I like some of the vehicles you listed, try pulling a 4k lb trailer with a ZO6 or take that, even with snow tires, to the mountains during winter....good luck with that.

Im not an SRT Owner..have a hemi overland...but i completely understand the SRT. Looks, Performance (speed and utility), and value compared to the competition. Its great to have choice and hope it never changes.

Went to the dealer and sat in one. :thumpsup

Didn't ask to test drive but was told no test drives else your serious. It was listed at 10K over MSRP.

Will be there for quite sometime.

Yeah, I don't think test drives will come easy. People like the milage kept to a minimum when they buy a new car. Especially a more limited edition car with a higher price tag. I basically told the dealer when I bought mine that I would not buy it if I can't test drive it. I was serious about buying, but my poker face said I didn't give a f about the situation. Test drove it and then I left haha! I was hungry dinner was more important to me. Next day I came back and bought it though

The non-SRT8 WK2 doesn't have the level of capability in the stock suspension or braking to support the potential power gains and subsequent acceleration and velocity. This is reason and cost-justification of the SRT8.

One mods usually justifies another supporting mod.

Another big one. How's the tranny gonna do with the new torque? Transfer case gonna handle it?
I don't disagree the SRT is a better sports car. I would bet 6-8k for blower install and tuning. I don't want the suspension on the SRT8 i want something i can take on trails, haul some ass if i want to and tow. This is just my preference because I have this

and i need something that can tow it to the track. I would gladly have one if I could afford it plus keeping my old f150 for my towing needs but I don't want to have 3 vehicles. Well yes i do but not going to fly with the wife.

Would have probably sprung for an SRT8 over the regular Overland if we didn't live in a (usually) snowy area. But not at $10k over list!

SRT handles great with the stock all season p zeros in snow. I bought mine when it was snowy. I was surprised how well it did with the wide tires. Just turn the select trac dial to Snow and away you go.

Re: Any of us WK2 people test drive a SRT8 yet?

We just had our local motor show and they had a few of the SRTs out. I'm like seriously tempted to trade in my Overland... I'm thinking of heading to my local dealer for a test drive this week and I know if I do, my mind will be made up, haha.

I think the WK2 SRT8 handles awesome in snow. I had no issues with mine yet.

Interesting feedback, thanks. Nonetheless, we go through high unplowed snow -- well, in normal winters, at any rate. So QL was a "must."

Do your eyes fly out of their sockets when you jam on the brakes?

The SRT8 at the lowest point for clearance, front bumper cover, is ~8". How much clearance does a regular grand cherokee with QL get when in it's highest setting? 12"
