It's now the Thule 917XTR and has a 2 bike add on feature (total of 4 bikes).

Other very good racks are:
Yakima Holdup 2
Kuat Sherpa (aluminum, 27 lbs.)

This is mine on my previous Overland.

I believe what we need is the 916 xtr not the 917 (the 917 is 1.25 inch)

Re: Any one recommend a good trailer hitch bike rack?

so the only issue i see so far is that the 916xtr (or some other platform bike rack).. when folded up really blocks the rear view camera. if you park a lot in the city, its kinda annoying. Im considering getting the helim as well just to compare the two.

Re: Any one recommend a good trailer hitch bike rack?

I went with the 971XT Helium Thule because of its light weight, and versatility for a 2" or 1" hitch.

On the platform hitches, what is keeping someone from stealing the bike by releasing the quick releases on the wheels? I don't see how they're secure.

There are multiple locks on the Thule, on the arm, plus cable for frame etc.
