Re: Any problem with the blind spot monitoring system

Oddball problem, long video to get to the punch line, but I was interested so I watched the whole thing. I had a similar problem with a Mini Cooper I bought my daughter and was offered a 100K warranty and 100K service package that covers everything except tires.

Any problem with the blind spot monitoring system

A bit long video to get to the solution, but glad it worked out.

Maybe put a text so people will know what the problem was and what the fix was.

Problem: blind spot monitor throwing error messages

Fix: replaced warped rear bumper

I love the cross traffic detection.

Just another reason why I hate all this technology. I have turned off almost all of my warning systems. It sounds like a friggin' arcade sometimes in what is otherwise a great vehicle. Makes me want a Wrangler before they screw that up with all the new crap for the new model.

And I'm surprised this didn't happen to me. Its usually my vehicle that has a crazy problem that no one can find.

I love the technology. My wife has a 2016 AUDI A4 fully loaded. Oddly, it has only rear parking sensors. One day pulling into a parking space at Target, she brushed the front right corner of the car on the car in the next space. If the AUDI had front sensors, it would have beeped RED and it would have saved me an insurance claim.

Going through a Lemon buy back as we speak, I can attest to the poor quality control of American car manufactures, but will also praise some of the safety tech as it has saved me a few times:

1. Reversing out of a spot and the system warning me of an idiot going 30mpg
2. Last winter on the highway, poor visibility, and I didn't see car in blind spot
3. Stupid me not paying attention and the front crash avoidance saving me from a stopped car.

Years ago as a paramedic I was also a defensive driving instructor so I can read the road very well and generally know my surroundings. But we are all human and the tech is the guardian angle when we least expect it.

Re: Any problem with the blind spot monitoring system

Not sure what you mean by a problem. It always works for me. Sometimes it shows an alert for something in the blind spot, but there is actually room for a lane change. It saves me from turning my head over my shoulder to check for something in the blind spot which takes my eyes off the road. I would get it for another car if i buy one.

Re: Any problem with the blind spot monitoring system

Only "problem" is when I back out of a parking spot that is close to a busy road (other side of the aisle is right up to the sidewalk and right-of-way) and it warns me about cross traffic when the parking lot is clear.

Re: Any problem with the blind spot monitoring system

What exactly did the video show? The thing that sticks out in my mind was that before the halfway Mark I heard, "to make a long story short", but that must have slipped in there by mistake.
