Any way to change passenger seat sensor?

The sensor in my 2011 Grand Cherokee is a bit overly sensitive for my tastes. It doesn't take much to get the passenger seat belt chime going - a couple of library books, Indian food take away - I even had it go off when I reached over to hold a few DVDs when I rounded a corner. It would be great to be able to somehow change the sensor so that it took a bit more weight to trigger the sensor.

I doubt there's a way, but figured if there was, someone here would know.

Re: Any way to change passenger seat sensor?

Lol I had the same issue last week whilst my backpack was full of books and beer. My vehicle was determined that I had a passenger riding unstrapped. It was NOT cool with this lol. I was cracking up all the way home.

Anyway, your passenger occupancy sensor sounds like a hair trigger; if you push the issue, maybe you can get your dealer to replace it. Ymmv. That could go either way.

I like the safety warning systems, so I would try getting it fixed before resorting to disabling the audible warning. I would insist that they replace it, in fact.

Re: Any way to change passenger seat sensor?

I wonder if it's tied into the OCS and if the OCS was recalibrated/retrained if that would cure your problem.

Someone here will know.
