Re: Anybody Considering LR4?

I've tried several times to like and buy the LR3, LR4, and RR Sport. They are all beautiful and capable vehicles, and certainly have the vanity thing if that matters to you.

The first go round was 2006 with the LR3. Despite its features and larger size, it just felt way to tippy and top heavy. Went with the '06 Touareg back then.

This time the LR4 felt the same as above, and the Sport seemed to still be plauged by reliability issues despite the plush price tag.

The JGC was a no brainer compared to pretty much the rest of the field. The Cayenne was the supermodel, but came with the correlated price tag and I just couldn't see getting the Cayenne to comfortably do SUV work such as trail or tow.

Re: Anybody Considering LR4?

Hmmmm, the LR4 is probably the first LR I've looked at. But, they're just not "sporty" in the way a Jeep is. They're a size too large I reckon, "look" top heavy, and anyone under 50 years of age looks mildly out of place driving one.

Future wife liked LR4 better too. Got to keep her happy... right? Ha. Getting rid of '06 X3. Didn't have any of the transmission nightmares that have plagued that model. That's a different thread altogether. But needed to upgrade to bigger vehicle overall.

Just wondered if anybody else has been trying to decide between the LR4 and GC. Thoughts?

Did you look on price tag?

OK and here in the Colonies "Made in India" is not really a strong selling point! Thank Dell Customer "Sport" for poisoning that well...

And years of Jags and others plagued with Lucas Electrics and inconsistent quality kinda knocked the "pommies" out of the box too...

I have had several neighbors and "friends" over the years buy Land Rover products and they all swore off them after either the warranty ran out or they got about 50k miles on them (which ever happened 1st) - something about the "cost to maintain" brings tears of pain to the eyes (even of former Mercedes Owners)

Re: Anybody Considering LR4?

Considered the LR4 as my wife really likes the brand and looks. The higher price optioned out LR4 compared to the Overland and the reliability issues caused me to back away. Not to mention, when given the choice, I much prefer to spend my $42k with an American product as opposed to sending that cash overseas. I'm a bit patriotic that way, but the vehicle must justify this and the GC definitely does.

Re: Anybody Considering LR4?

The sticker on the LR4 was 12k more than my Jeep. I certainly don't need a 3rd row of seats now, but if Jeep doesn't come out with a 3rd row option, I may have to look at the LR4 for my wife. Ugh.

Re: Anybody Considering LR4?

I know this is comparing apples to oranges, but thought I'd throw in my 2 cents. Personally, the "boxy" shape of the LR4 just doesn't appeal to me. Now the Range Rover "Supercharged", if that were the same price as the Overland, I've have a very different decision to make.

Aside from all the "quality" Jeep has built into the WK2, the asthetics and overall design/look of the vehicle leaves the LR4 in the dust, IMHO.

Lastly, the LR4 is near the bottom of the Range Rover line, while the Overland is at the TOP of the Jeep line. Something else to consider.

The GC with three rows is called the Dodge Durango. I looked at it, but passed because there's not as much leg room in the second row and it doesn't have the drive train features.

Re: Anybody Considering LR4?

What are you paying for the lease? Possibly a rude question, but you kept repeating what a great deal it was. Thanks.
