My new 15 Altitude. When going over bumps, pot holes or a sewer cap, ( Ny roads Suck) the pass rear tire, under there somewhere sounds like a hollow jiggling noise. I thought maybe it was the spare tire so I took out the foam and jack and the 2 plastic tubs and tightened down the spare but it's still there. Now at highway speeds i don't hear anything only low speed bumpy roads. It is kinda hollow back there but my current 14 Limited and both my previous 14 SRT & 15 SRT never did it and it only sounds on the right rear?
Check the rear cargo cover or maybe lean the back seats back. There was a thread about one of the rear head rests making a noise going over bumps.... Always fun tracking a noise down in a new car!?!
For what it is worth, I had a rattling noise I swear was coming from the moonroof, turns out it was something in that little holder by the flashlight in the back.
My point being, take everything out of the back area and run it a day and see if you still hear it. Good luck.
Yes, I have the same noise (And under the exact same circumstances)… 14 Limited 4x4... It is getting to the point where I feel I should have it looked at (thought I could live with it but probably not a good idea).

I am experiencing the same thing in my 2014 Laredo E (with ORA1 and Tow Package). I first noticed it a couple of months ago. It did not do it the first year I had the Jeep. I only notice it at low speed. It almost sounds like an empty two liter plastic bottle is bouncing around near the rear wheel wells in the back. And I can almost feel a slight jiggle in the steering wheel when it happens.
I was thinking it was the OEM Forteras starting to age, but maybe not...
Get Chrysler to look at it for you, it could be as simple as a loose sway bar bushing. Tell them about the noise and ask them to check all the rear suspension bolts with a torque wrench to make sure they are set correctly.
have exact same symptoms - new 2015 Altitude, I hear random jiggling noise I thought maybe it was the license plate frame (no plate yet) catching cross wind or something but from my ear seems to be in direction of rear tire well on passenger side.
You guys don't have trailer hitches bouncing around in the receiver, do you? Mine thumps when I go over speed bumps, louder and quieter depending on speed.
Is this just an Altitude problem?? We need for someone to get to the bottom of this. I'm trying to bring back to the dealer but it's just so hard, especially when they don't give out lenders.

Besides shocks being an issue on a lot of vehicles. My 14 Altitude had a bad rattle from the cargo area. The rear license plate is only fastened with 2 screws so it flaps around and resonates through the sheet metal of the tailgate. I put a piece of dynamite behind the plate and now it's quiet as could be.
MIKEG15. Dynamite will make a much bigger noise!!! Just once though!! Sorry couldn't resist. Enjoy the long weekend all! I'll be checking my shocks as well as I have the same noise. I have to get my drivers seat squeak sorted as well. Any squeak or rattle in a vehicle drives me nutts. My 09 Acura TL SHAWD never had a squeak or rattle.
I looked under mine yesterday and the shocks looked fine. No leaking. I need an oil change in about a thousand miles, so I'll have them take a look when I get the oil change.
It does sound/feel like it has been slowly getting worse over the last couple of months.
My 2012 Altitude had the same problem and the dealer replaced the rear shocks (they told me they didn't need to look at it and scheduled warranty repair) but the problem ended up being the bushing on the rear sway bar links. I replaced them all with new SRT sway bar and links. The dealer only charged me the difference in cost.
Thanks for chiming in. I will ask the dealer to do the same if that is the case. I am going in for my first oil change in 500 miles so we'll see what the issue is on mine.
Is the sound all the time or only after a cold start? If it is a cold start issue it could be a the exhaust fitting is lose. Once it warms up the sound usually hoes away.
Well I think those are my non cushioned contact points with the Jeep(my body being in the seat). But when I hear the noise, I do feel a very faint jiggling looseness coming through the steering wheel and pedal. And it's only when driving over minor road surface imperfections at slower speeds (less than 30mph or so).
Of course, it could be my mind playing tricks on me. . It feels just like you would expect something causing a sound like that to feel, so maybe it's just in my head. It's a very slight sensation coming through.
Took to many times to get it figured out and Chrysler didn't seem concerned one bit.
First time I was told I was crazy and it was normal. I told them I was bringing it back in a week.
Next time they said it was the shock, but had to order. Two weeks later shock replaced no different
Next time. Basically told to deal with it by Chrysler customer service rep or whatever they call themselves. Told them they were buying it back then. Told me to bring it back in
Next time they had it for 3 days but figured out it was a loose bolt somewhere on the shock mount??? I'm not sure how that was missed if they changed the shock.
PITA and neither the dealer or Chrysler seemed concerned that a suspension component came from the factory lose.
It's the straw that broke the camels back and why I'll sadly never own another Chrysler or Jeep vehicle.
Just came from dealership. Test your JGC by sliding sunroof shade back. I have single pane sunroof 2012 WK2. Noise was inaudible or muffled most of the time. They have called for jeep star engineer to take over. I will report on what they find. So for now, at least in my case it doesn't seem issue is with shocks. I was very surprise for this finding as the noise was clearly from the back! but with the shade rolled back it seems something is getting pushed and not moving over bumps.
