Anyone know what this part is?

I've taken my Jeep to the dealer a few times and every now and then I find pieces of parts they break off or don't put back, like clips. The last time they did the recall and today I found this one broken part. Does anyone know what it is or what it goes to? I found it on the driver side between the door and the seat. I'm actually quite PO'd about it since I have no idea what it belongs to but looks like a guide that's about 1" - 1.5" in size.

Thanks!

Nathan

Re: Anyone know what this part is?

Is it a piece of the cable duct or duct cover that runs along the sill?

Cheers,
Steve

Thank you for your reply, Steve. I seriously have no idea where it goes. It's hard plastic and one side looks like it has guides and the other side looks like it fits into a socket or hole.

Nathan bear in mind that work boots can pick up stuff from the workshop floor. It may not actually be off your car. By all means have a look around, but I wouldn't be killing myself looking for the source. Email a photo to yourself... if you find a problem later you can use that to back up your complaint.

Cheers,
Steve

Thank you, Steve. It has bothered me quite a bit. In fact the more I look a the piece the more angry I get. However, you might be right that it might have just been something that was picked up and put in the car for whatever reason. To me, though, that's like taking one puzzle piece out of the box and going nuts trying to find it.

I haven't really looked hard to find what it is though. I wouldn't know why anything would be pulled apart, especially as hard as this one appeared to be. I was getting the sun visor and brake recall done so neither of those should have caused anything to break.

I'll try to remain calm. I'll keep the part in case I find the location of the breakage.

Have a good holiday!

Nathan

Re: Anyone know what this part is?

Posts like this are why I do all my own work.

I have even performed some of my own recall upgrades, out of pocket just because I figured the small cost for the new parts were likely worth it versus dealing with multiple trips back to repair other things they broke.

Not going to say I haven't broken clips or other parts doing it myself, but the difference is, I then order those and replace them too. When I am done I know the job is done right...

The look on the face of the salesman when I declined the extended warranty and said I did not need it as I don't trust them to do the work even if it is free, well, that was priceless.

Interestingly, I have the exact same piece sitting on the floor in the exact same spot...I haven't considered what it is yet. LOL

Yup...I need to check the door. Perhaps it's something that isn't normally visible from a standing position.

I felt the other side of the plastic guard that holds the electric controls for the seat and it's possible it may have come from there. Not sure though.

Re: Anyone know what this part is?

It looks like a clip which holds the battery compartment cover... Thr is 4 clips on the cover.. If u guys find this piece from the passenger side door pls check whether the cover has all 4 clips intact or any one is broken ( especially the right front one, its bit hard to remove from the socket)...
