The new transmissions will be gradually phased in over the next several model years. One of the first vehicles to get the 8-sp will be the 2012 Chrysler 300. I was told that only the V6 models would get the new tranny at first, with V8's to follow.

I am now just starting to get information on the 2012 models, should have more specifics in the next month or so. So far it appears more than likely that the 2012 WK will continue with the existing 5-sp transmissions and that the new 8-sp will not appear until the 2013 model year.

I remember reading something a while back questioning the future of the 5.7 Hemi due to upcoming mileage and emission mandates. Specifically the design of the 5.7 makes it difficult to meet future emission rules.
